i agree with marlonxp. no matter what brand/model i play with i cant help comparing them with an se phone! when its time to buy a new phone (now) its gotta be the latest se. S700 here i come!!

SE phones are made by the most expensive materials with the hights quality ... take the screens for example..... nokia's screens are stupid ( except s60 ) ... you can see the pixels & the screes is discoloring in front of the sun .......
& ...... here's another example ..... like the design & the housing.... SE design looks more expensive more than the nokia's ... nokia looks like toys ... while SE look's like a realy phone .. who made by an artist
nokia phones are made by low quality plastic .... that's make the phone much cheaper while SE makes the phone form aluminom. & the best quality plastics ...
that's why SE phones are so EXPENSIVE ....

had an edge. Now after having a Nokia 3650, and without the size bothering me too much, I come across the S700 and come to the conclusion that it is the phone to change loyalties with. So what if its expensive, no other manufacturer can beat

if u come with up points like "se supports higher resolution screen" (btw: i'm the one that pre-empted this point) or "se is investing in coming up with next gen something..." or "se is coming out with xxMP camera phone ahead of others", then u may be able to convince me.
i dont want to go and reread this whole thread, but here's are some of my points (which i can remember) where Nokia have an "edge". imo, not many have been seriously challenged these points:-
1. Nokia smartphone sales (EMEA figure) are skyrocketing with a share of 80% whereas SE is stagnant and declining in booming market.
2. Nokia invested in developing Series 60/80/90 smartphone platform whereas SE did none. Many companies are licensing Nokia platform but SE wants to go it alone in using UIQ3. There are more thrid party software support for Nokia platform than untested UIQ3. (also recently Intel has tied up with Nokia to deliver the next gen of hardware platform for Series 60)
3. Nokia mid-high end phones are mostly (and will all be) smartphone which gives great advantages when competing with the likes of K700 or S700.
4. Nokia has models across all segments and renew their models very often. (also their new mid-range now supports bigger screen and higher resolution 176X128)
6. Nokia supports SD/MMC which are much more widely used, higher capacity and cheaper than MemoryStick. (e.g. small form factor phone 6230 has been able to support mem slot whereas SE K700 cannot. incidentally samsung also cannot support one in their D500 series)
7. Nokia achieved a higher profit margins for their phone than SE and it can use pricing to further its aim of increasing market share. SE has no such luxury.

You are saying releasing releasing practically identical phones a few months after each other is providing customer value, forcing them to upgrade their handset every few months to have the latest? That is simply a rip off. And it took them so long to get their act together with screens. Look at the 6230. Good phone, but the scren is shocking, for a phone with a video player.

Nokias high end phones are in competition with
midrange phones, once again showing the superior quality of the Sonyericsson product.

i would tend to look at it from a more pragmatic view. when u hv a new reworked model, u r trying catch those customers upgrading from older phones and not those that bought one model before. just imagine, 6 months down the road Nokia comes out with a 6230i and se is still stuck with K700. i think people would find the 6230i more attractive because it is a "newer" model and it is fresh.
on ur last statement. SE dont even hv any models to compete against Nokia Series 60 in that price range. So what
else to use other than S700 and K700.
There is a rumour that a 3*** Series60 will be launched to replace 3650/3660 and another 2-3 Series60 by end this year. So Nokia is levelling down Series60 to be mainstream. So u will be able to buy a smartphone for the price of a normal phone!!
So the questions is:- Does SE have anything to answer to this Nokia strategy?? i hv not heard anything at all wrt this (except for rumoured UIQ3 adoption).
