@ares,
LOL, seems like Mobilmania.cz really choose strenuous locations for their phone test! Let's hope they do a full review of the P990i soon. Interesting enough, one of the online retailers in the Czech Republic have the P990i on sale from the 21.08.06.

However, as we are all only too aware, these dates can slip........

! This date in late August would correlate with other sources who seem to say that SIM free units should be available in mid to late August.

just wondering if the p990 will be worth it by the time we get to august and if they have failed so spectacularly to sort out its problems since it was 1st announced what hope is there that these will be sorted out in the next week or month unless they do decide to release it with all its bugs either way i dont think its sleek design can compensate for the real software issues on this device

but how much do you use wifi?
I had it on my k-jam and it was convenient, but I don't miss it as much on my M600 as I thought I might, especially with 3G capability without the need to find a hotspot

Problem is, I live in North East USA, New York City for now. Only 1 network that has 3G service at all in the US and that's Cingular, only being tested in New York.. T-Mobile, the true GSM provider here has been trying to buy bandwidth for a while, but has been blocked by other carriers.
But, pretty much every inch of New York and major US city has many overlapping WiFi networks (including my home

), thus my insistance on WiFi..

I bet the P990 will not be released until after the K790 is released. On the SE global phone page, it looks like the K790 is next on the list to be removed from the "Coming Soon" list. So I'm not getting my hopes up until the K790 is out.

I can tell you that after 5 years of watching SE pages the removal or presence of "coming soon" bears absolutely no relationship to when the phone actually comes available.
When "coming soon" is removed it has been anything from immediate to 2-3 months before real availablity
so, take no notice of that

I agree with Masseur - the "coming soon" on the SE pages and the order of how the phones are on there have really no meaning.
Btw, anybody have any comments on 3G service in the US? Am I missing a carrier out here that does provide it? This is why (I thought) there is a k800i for global markets and k790a for the US sans UMTS 3G, just EDGE.
