Morning everybody.
Can anybody help me find an idiot-proof step-by-step walkthrough on how to remove the virus W32.randex.gen (aka irc.backdoor.dll
strangely enough) from my system?
The bastid won't go.
I also have no idea how I got it
I scanned and came out clean, 3 hours later I scanned and it was there...... said to spread through IRC channels but i don't use IRC?

I use AVG but it cannot delete or quarantaine it. So I scanned with norton but also cannot get rid of it. Found a complicated set of guidelines on Symantecs site which I'm gonna try tonight. If worst comes to worst I'll bollocks me whole system though
It basically cannot be auto removed so I need to do it manually in safe mode and hope for the best

seems it attacks unpatched pc's so make sure you have all your critical updates. probably got you via your net connection and hit an unpatched vunerability? does your av nto want to remove it for you?

I'm sure there must be a fix disk 4 it? 1 u boot from. As 4 avg good too use as backup checker,but aint very good we get viruses through that at work all the time. And norton...personalily i tink it's crap. I've always used sophus and never had a virus. Tbh i've only ever heard bad tings about norton.

well to me they seem to perform about the same. mcafee on the other hand detects LESS than either one of them
