Quote:And norton...personalily i tink it's crap. I've always used sophus and never had a virus. Tbh i've only ever heard bad tings about norton.
why do you think it's crap? have you used it and got a virus? been using it for several years now and not got one virus, worm, trojan, keylogger etc as yet (fingers crossed). The definitions and updates a almost daily and it doesn't hog system resources too badly. (excpt the 2004 auto update scheduler which needs reducing from every 5 mins)
Quote:Competition tho like between 2 virus creators. 1 was wrote to find and delete another virus then replace it with it's self.
yeah because the mydoom writers nicked some of netskys code from an earlier virus thus pissing them off

netsky removes mydoom and bagle. there are so many variations now all with messages in slagging each other off. it's pretty funny tbh - sad bastids
edit:
they get paid by spammers to write the virus to turn people pc's into spam zombies.

i used to have norton but now i switched to mcafee cuz it takes far longer for the system to detect a virus. on one instance i had already installed an infected program before it notified me of a virus + for some unknown reasons it wont automatically scan my email attachments..

Well I did two things. I downloaded and installed
ZoneAlarms IMSecure and I downloaded and installed
Nokias Theme Studio for Series 60
Since I've never ever had such a problem before I can only come up with a few alternatives....... only one of which seems to make sense. If we assume both softwares weren't infected, as downloaded from the original site, perfectly legal copies

So here's my line of thought: installing the IMSecure module may have (temporarily) disabled or reduced ZA firewall.......... which was just enough to get me in trouble.
If that's not it: I'm inclined to blame microsoft (as always) and Nokia

i maybe me, but i thought norton gives false virus results with certain proggys, might be worth trying another AV (SOPHOS) just to see if it still comes up with it ? (could be that NOKIA software!!)
Don't know why u aint heard of it

Those IRC virii usually work by:
On a webserver is a file disguised as a .jpg, but tis actually a .htm/.php or whatever. This page will download the virus to your computer and get comfy. Then if you connect to irc, it automatically spams the link in any channels you are in. Other people click it thinking its a great pic of someone in the nuddy, and are infected themselves.
So mebbe you clicked on a link someone gave you maggie?
