Blu- floppy drive? Incase u know the chipset/ manufac'rer getting drivers is easy. > FYI- The PC I am using too has a PCI Add On card (Promise Ultra 66 I think). I too d/loaded the stuff on removable disks, but ## it is possible for HDD to get detected directly thru it ## think the driver loads from GUI :( ### its still possible to trick Fdisk w/o above. Just make a single partion OR give %ge option for 1st partition such, that remaining is under 65GB (approx) if its a meaty big HDD. Or.. Seagate Disk Wizard

Dearyyy ... as I said in some post yesterday... am a naive in most things but still a show off...
Yet, what I heard off my R&D guy here in Bombay goes thus:
# Sata drives OUGHT to detect automatically
# The SATA card & its BIOS would come with the card/ vendor specific driver media (any floppy you got) ?
# What I meant about partitioning is: That "Fdisk" (that is usually available) has some issues in preparing (detecting) bigger (65 or 67.5 or not sure) size . It can sometimes be fooled by:
Asking it to make just ONE primary partion (thereby using full capacity irrespective of what Fdisk thinks it is)
OR
Asking Fdisk to make, as you put, a 30GB (in your case) Pri P'tion &
then it detects the remaining properly.
#
It Would however be better IMHO to use specific HDD preparation utilities by say Segate, IBM or Hitachi. I am only conversant with Seagate Disk Wizard (& Its good) and IBM s/w
### Not trying to instigate Post Purchase Dissonance, but I hope you got this Hitachi Sata 80GB for around 4000INR? Did you?
From What I am told.. ITS A GREAT BUY
