Sony won't release a quadcore device until early 2013. I don't know if you all knew this already but given they are going to lay off a bunch more staff in Sweden in the next few months, if that's not a nail in the coffin, I don't know what is.

Makes me personally sad. I think on the SW front the Lund team did a good job. My father worked all his life at LM Ericsson, producing relays and stuff at Telefonplan. I did my graduate "examensarbete" for KTH at Ericsson HQ back in the '70s. I picked another career path with IBM eventually. But I still have this emotional tie. I worked in Japan for 3 years in the '80s and honestly I'm not optimistic. The Koreans are moving too fast. Sorry for getting personal and emotional.

If its dual core, then the price shouldnt be as high as its suggested in the leaked chart, considering wp8 low ends will have dual core s4! If they cant get a competitive phone this year, then they might as well skip it this year and just get out quad core device(tegra4) which can stand against galaxy s4 and iphone 6, Instead of having a bad name.
@pmugghc,
Sony japan has very good experience in the sw front, considering ps vita os, etc, and i am certainly not convinced about the present smc/se's ability with the os ever since x10 came out. I think moving to japan and integrating with a bigger team might be better.

Sry but I LOLed when I read GS4... iP6... etc...
You can't just stare at the number of cores or the GHz you have to look at the whole package. The RAM, the camera, the SW and other extras etc.
Right now, with ICS, the Sony Xperia S got maybe not the whole package but it comes really close and will do just fine for a year or a year and a half. Sure it's kinda bad it's S3 and not S4 but it manages really well with anything you throw at it today and there is no reason for Sony to not release it or the GX and SX.
Sony's problem right now is release to market time, like with the ION.

Ofcourse I am taking into account the whole package, I know that it might not make sense to you, but when iphone and galaxy s have next version, the over all package is improved. The shift betwen s1-s2-s3 and iphone4-4s is much greater than x10-xarc-xs, and this is regardless of cpu, cpu cores. Logically next version will too offer much better package. If it cant stand against them, then more and more people will lol at sony and move on, Because most of them(we are talking about high end users) like to buy a device that isn't already maxed out when buying. For a high end phone, I want the best available features. For a low end phone, I wouldn't complain about miro or tapioca.
