So having seen a few vids of the new phones, I feel PY7-00718V/PY7-21831A is the ZX2 and PY7-24118Q is the ZX2 compact.

here is the info from PY7-00718, this is the same as the PY7-21831A, and from the PY7-21831A docs, we know it has a 145mm screen size, or 5.7 inches. Calculating the diagonal using ZX2 dimensions doesn't yield the same diagonal as the documents, but corners are curved on the actual device and I using Pythagoras yields 169.09 mm diagonal which is close enough to warrant it as being the same device. Apart from that, the sim card slot is in the same place on the fcc docs as on the ZX2.

The PY7-24118Q (PY7-87507Q), the sim card slot is in the same position as the ZX2c, and the fcc docs give us these dimensions, which matches a 5 inch device and the 135 x 65 also matches the ZX2c.

This leaves the third device, the PY7-72474U. This device also has the sim slot at the top, like the ZX2. Now this could be the dual cam device, perhaps someone wants to dig the fcc docs to find out more info perhaps. Unless this device is just the 6gb model of the ZX2?

what is odd a mentioned before on here, the UAProf for the H81xx model doesn't work anymore and the UAprof for the ZX2 and ZX2c both show 1920x1080, 16:9 and not the 18:9 on the actual model. Anyone know why the error or difference in aspect ratio?

The UAProf is really surprising you know.. I too have been thinking about that error in screen ratio.. CHANGE OF PLANS AT LAST TIME MAYBE? I think they had many prototypes, mirai, ambient flow and all.. But at last they chose to keep the mirai and instead show ambient flow at MWC.. Notice how the sony reps don't claim this as a new time for Sony.. I mean the design has obviously changed, so it would have been okay for sony to call it a new era, but they didn't.. They just said that the new phones are an addition to their family.. So I think the new era would start by IFA or next MWC with a new naming scheme..
It would all be clear you see... New CEO, Sony changes names after every 5 generations (Z, Z1, 2,3,5) and (X performance, XZ, Xzp, Xz1, Xz2) ..I didn't consider Z3+ as an addition as we all know that it wasn't.. No formal announcement!!!.
So maybe the dual cam device this fall or next year..

Been using Sony since they merged with Ericsson, if this is what they're coming up with I think I'm switching to LG.

To be honest, It's a good move for Sony to not announce the phone, marketing-wise. I just wish the pixel-eyes on-screen fps would make it to the xzp. The fps in the current models are eyesores.

Sony is finished with these models. very sad. This quarter is even harder than 2 million.

@ascariss the missing device was the first of the 3 that got certified. It has size of XZ1

XZ2 just has curved glass, screen does not have round corners like G6.

lol, the amount of hyperbole here is hilarious. Sony is not finished, Sony did not commit suicide, Sony is not going anywhere. These models are perfectly fine.

- The bezels are now quite reasonable and most every site commended Sony for it
- The camera has a different processing algorithm now. We'll have to wait for reviews, but this very well could resolve all the complaints people had about their image quality.
- The speakers are supposedly louder, which is great. We'll have to wait for reviews to see just how much better they are. Not to mention the fact that they're still front facing, which means something to some people.
- The US will finally have an active fingerprint sensor out of the box
- Wireless charging is now in the XZ2. For those who want it, it's a great addition

The above points are the biggest complaints people have had about Sony phones for years now, and they addressed all of them. True, we'll have to wait for reviews to see how a couple of them pan out, but as of right now they're points to consider. Then they have a few unique selling points...

- SDR upscaling to near-HDR on the display. We'll have to wait for reviews, but this could be a great feature
- The first 4K HDR video camera on a phone
- 960 FPS 1080p recording. Last years models being only capable of 720p was a ding against them by some reviewers.
- Vibration tech to make playing games, listening to music and watching videos more immersive. We'll have to wait for reviews to see how effective that is.
- Dedicated camera shutter key is still there, which most phones do not have
- What other phone can do what the XZ2 Compact can do at that size?

Top that off with the the fact that historically Sony flagship phones kick the shit out of all competitors in real world tests, this is a reasonably solid effort from them. The new design is going to be hit or miss depending on the person you ask. Keep in mind that from the vast majority of people who have handled the device they seem to have positive things to say about the new design. Yup, the headphone jack is gone for these 2 devices, but at least they will apparently have a solution out of the box for those who still want to use a headphone, so it's not all doom and gloom. Yes the front facing camera is now 5MP, who knows the real reason for that but wait for reviews to see how it actually performs.

This wasn't a super phone by at means. There's still room for improvement, but a lot of the changes they made were for the better, and are things people have been crying for them to do for a long time. Let's also mention that unlike some phones of the past these devices seem to be launching in a reasonable timeframe. I still remember longing for the XZ Premium for over 4 months before I could get one. Where is the superphone? Well that'll be the next Premium, whenever that comes. Was it supposed to be announced at MWC and got delayed? We dunno. There's certainly enough evidence for us to have believed it was coming. I know it's random speculation on my part, but I kinda feel like they made the XZ2 and chose its specs so that there could be a premium sitting above it in the lineup that had clearly better specs all around. Just my guess though.

So yeah, this is not the end of Sony. The amount of good they did far outweighs the negatives. Depending on how the reviews go for the things I mentioned above, this could turn out to be an extremely solid pair of devices. So knock off the bullshit naysaying already

My friend is a blogger who has a chance to try them already and they said that FPS position is really ridiculous.

Ah yeah about the camera I can confirm that it's really better than XZ1 but not so much anyway.

Still can't beat even nokia 7 plus.
