@TGP: you'll find "data comm." under connectivity. As Aya said, you'll have to connect thru MTN as your current ISP. You should have received three different settings from MTN sightz and soundz viz: MTNwap, MTNmms and MTNgprs. If you saved all three, the later is the account you assign for browsing the web thru your pc.

I don't know about you guys, but I won't be continuing with MTN gprs when it goes commercial, at least not for now. Its too temperamental. At times, I get data tranfer speeds of upto 14kbps, and other times I have to manage with 32bps. The data seems to be tranfering in spasms.
Also, signal is not consistent, thus requiring you to reload or refresh constantly. I can't do that if it has to cost me money.
Any comments otherwise?

@ambyzown: I am not likely to continue with it either, but that's simply because I have invested too much in my Glo line.

About the varying speeds, that isn't an issue. By default, GPRS is accorded lower priority than voice. It uses excess bandwidth so to speak - leftovers of whatever is being used for voice. On a network with a large subscriber base like MTN's anything can happen.

One minute, you have only 2 active calls on your cell; the next its flooded with 50. GPRS is the fall guy.

But again, we cannot expect the most ideal performance since the thing is still in test phase anyway. By launch time, it should be at least significantly more stable than it is now, my earlier exposition notwithstanding.

That definitely explains why the connection is always good from 10pm onwards till about 8-9am.

@angel: Have you checked the WAP links on GoSmart? There's a Yahoo IM link there, I believe.

Its been a long time I accessed Esato via WAP. So I decided to try it. Feels strange, but reminds me of the early days of Glo GPRS. This message was posted from a Nokia
