We do not know the default setting.
Must be FHD 30.
Mi9 uses 4K as default because they knew score was going to be higher.
Fun fact is the units sold of Mi9 come set FHD 30. Only the one sent to DxO had 4K.
Still there is no excuse, other phones set FHD score more than 90 for video.
I bet the weak points are:
- video: exposure and AF
- photos : exposure ( HDR does not show up everytime needed) , focus and flash
Actually it was impossible to be #1, because:
1) Huawei has huge score of bokeh (ToF) and Zoom (periscope), s10 also has huge score of bokeh (ToF).
2) Both have HDR for auto and set as default.
3) S10 5G has 4K as default
No Tof, no periscope, no dual LED flash .... The score of Exposure/Contrast, Colour, AF, Artifacts , texture and noise need to be much higher to even the battle ...

AFAIK p30pro does not have HDR on auto as I read in some review.

I'm not expecting #1 spot. But at and under XS they are all 2 lens cameras, not to mention they are last year's phones. Sony should at least beat xs. Matching S10 would be preferable (S10+ not 5g).
Hawk, what you mention about hardware is true for stills but 1 shouldn't score less than S10 in video and the commenter says video score is weak. S10+ has very similar hw. Xs has one less lens. Expecting around 105 to 109 is fair I think.
Early samples have that hdr+ like effect so I'm not sure if 1 lacks it. I mean 1 should at the very least should be on the top 10. Friggin Xiaomi has 2 in there.

Many phones have main camera with very similar sensors.
Those 12MP 1,4micron (s8, s9, s10, mi8, Xs, Pixel 2, U11, U12, Nex S, G5+, Pixel 3)
Almost all are Dual Pixel AF but phones dont have exactly same performance.
Defaiult video setting of s10 series is 4K too.
Also since XZP, the 4K30 SDR of Sony is no longer the best.
Other brands have better exposure, less artifacts and better EIS.
My bet is score between 89-91 for video.
XZ3 got 85, XZP got 84.
Other phones score for 1080p.
Pixel 3 (98), U12 (95), Xs Max (96), P30P (97)

All I'm saying is hw differences shouldn't matter anymore. Most of those phones which scored ~95 are from last year. If 1 comes with ~90 how will it look when xi and note10 and pixel 4 come along? It's not too much to expect 1 to match u12+/xs in video. If it can't then the demo they showed must be fake. Or altered to make 1 look better. If Sony can't take on Xiaomi they shouldn't bother with dxo.

Something weird.
Sony said nothing about this new Exmor but being stacked 12MP 1/2.6" with DPAF.
Not even if it is RGB or WRGB, nor if it's Pregius type.
Person said "relatively weak video score".
1) Weak than video score of other phones?
2) weak score compared to its photo score?
Let's suppose 90 for video.
110p + 90v = 103
111p + 90v = 104
112p + 90v = 104
113p + 90v = 105
114p + 90v = 106
115p + 90v = 106
116p + 90v = 107
117p + 90v = 108
118p + 90v = 108
119p + 90v = 109
120p + 90v = 110
The post says it wont be top score because of video. That could mean the highest score of Stills. P30 Pro has 120.
If it has more than 120, video is below 90.

Well ...
When they say A is best, all tech sites believe. Of course it depends on which brand is A.
There are people that buy phone based on their opinion.
It is a powerful marketing tool.

If it wasn't relevant why would Sony send 1 for a review? Yes they have some sketchy practises like putting tests that favored some models but at the end those tests became important like zoom and bokeh. Not to mention they rank Sony sensors highly in their pro cam evaluations. So yeah I don't trust them fully but at least they provide some sort of benchmark.
1's sensor cannot be rgbw or global shutter. If they were we'd definitely be informed about it right at the announcement. When the commenter said "relatively" I didn't think it was relative to its own photo score but to its rivals video score. Let's just wait and see the scores then. Maybe the overall will be better. I don't expect it to exceed P30P's pic score tho.

I hate DXO but if they get a good score there then people will be impressed and you might get it included in a blind camera comparison(!). Marketing is what it's about but I worry about video score as the Xperia 1 is supposed to be all about cinema experience.
Anyway, where is this Japan only Xperia Compact? Didn't show up in any Summer lineup so is it a cancellation? Also, someone told me that they were making a XZ4 but it got shelved, wondering if there are any prototypes.
