@hansmusterli,
Dude, do you realize that you are complaining (quite vigorously I might add) about a camera that is included in a phone? I am sorry that you believed the marketing hype but the core function of the k800i is receiving and answering phone calls, not taking pictures. For REAL photography, I use my Nikon D200, but when I am out and about my k800i is fulfilling its function as a fun phone that happens to have a camera for a quick picture here and there.
Dude, you need to let go. At the end of the day it is only a phone.

So is it a 3mp cyber-shot camera or not?
I understood the earn that badge that it had to be surely. I love my K800 but the camera sure isn't as good as my original 3mp cybershot sony camera from 6 years ago.
In that time span it really should be regardless if whether it is in a phone or not.

But why is a new f/w out for K790i? Isn't K800i considered 'of higher level' that deserves more attention?

@Peanut,
You have a good point but in realize the difference in the two. Your k800i is a sort of "Jack of all Trades". Phone, camera, media play, COMPROMISE. Whereas a digital camera is simply that, a camera. It is not burdened with having to make and receive phone calls, send and receive SMS's, play media files. Not to make excuses for SE or all "Jack of all Trade" phones, they are compromised by their added functions.

Probably because the k790i came out after the K800i. Maybe it has some tweaks specific to it (EDGE).

Yes, I am.
I wouldn't if they wouldn't print "cyber-shot" on it. And I wouldn't if it wouldn't be so easy to add this feature. Just add a menue to the settings and that's it. I'm not asking for new hardware for the camera or a new chip or a better lens, a faster shutter. Just one setting more for something that is included in the phone anyway.
And as I wrote before: I had less unsharp pictures with my K750i than I have now with the K800i. I don't care about 2MP or 3MP camera. But I have a lot of unsharp pictures with the K800i just because the automatic flash is added too late (means: only if the shutter speed is less than 1/15 of a sec.)

Ah... and this flash shutter speed problem is fixed on the K790i?
Hmm, I'll test out the SEUS today for the R1CG001 update.
And I also agree - if the phone is labelled with cybershot, it should at least include some of the other basic functions of photography - it isn't that hard. If it's going to join the ranks of mainstream cameras of the Sony line, then the phone's camera features will have to be a bit better.

OK well, tried to update thru SEUS, didn't work. Says I have the most recent update.
F/W I'm using: R1CC003 APAC.
