Heres day two with my C905, i think it performs very well in the light. Only thing is sometimes it has trouble metering the light, but the sun was right in the way.
this taken on full auto
macro focus
full auto
macro focus
all images from now on have white balance changed to cloudy as the leaves seemed to be slightly off colour, image above is as so
this image is exactly the same apart from the fact that smart contrast has been applied.
this is taken in landscape mode, still with cloudy white balance
with macro foucs this time, i especially like this one for its detail in the wood
Taken in auto mode, i think
Auto again
and again
and finally this image, taken on auto, with red-eye reduction on, as she had rather bad red-eye with normal flash.
Overall I'm really happy with the pictures produced. I also seem to know how to use smart contrast now, it seems to really only work in one situation, when the subject is silhouetted by the light behind it. It does work effectively in this case, but has no effect when the reverse has happened, it just makes the subject brighter!
It might need some tweaking to work better (through firmware, perhaps!?)

Really nice shots there!
Aha so that's what smart contrast is for!? But i think it's supposed to also help in other situations than the one you mentioned. But good that you found that one out!
And yes with some tweaking with a new firmware the cam coul maybe be a tad better (but it is really good already) but they have to leave the meda(mp3)player alone this time since i'm very happy with the sound it's producing. (they messed it up on the K850)

Yeah, it seems as if smart contrast should have the same effect as the dynamic range optimizer i have on my SLR, but its a phone, and i think its doing really well at being a camera too.
Only other niggly problem is that whenever i've used the flash with people in the frame, they ALWAYS get red eye, so i have to remember to turn on red-eye reduction when I'm taking pictures of people. It could also do what my other compact camera does, whenever it detects faces in the frame, it turns on red eye reduction.
Anyone from SE listening?
Apart from that, it is a stunning phone!

I believe you should be able to use spot metering as well in such situations. Try it out and see what happens.
