great photo!

at ISO1000 that is very impressive indeed. I would expect a LOT more noise.

@zappyden

size at 2.5mb could be explained simply because there isn't a whole lot of different colors in the photo. jpeg compression will result in different sizes depending on the photo. also, i don't think that's a full 20mp photo just guessing based on how big it looks after clicking full size. i haven't looked at exif..

based on the resolution 3840x2160 .. this is an 8mp photo? or am i mistaken..

according to android authority z1 has better screen than htc one
http://www.androidauthority.com/xperia-z1-vs-htc-one-263790/
Verdict: With the Truliminous display meshed with the X-Reality engine, the Xperia Z1 takes the win. It’s an absolutely stunning display.

It's taken in 8 MP mode hence the smaller size.

IMO, Xperia Z1 just proved Sony as the imaging powerhouse. It is an achievement for them to produce a smartphone camera that can produce very nice quality photo with a smaller sensor.

why go with bigger sensor when you can achieve the same with a good optimized smaller sensor.

As Conclusion - Z1 has a nice camera, but horrible post processing. I would like to see this camera in SGS5 next year.
