I have been wondering this. The only other search widget is a lot bigger.

^^How incredibly frustrating. I appreciate that prior to 4.4.4 you needed a whole new launcher to remove it but surely they created a way to re-enable it? There was a message near to the tick box about "more -> settings"....teaches me for being hasty!
I get the feeling this is Sony's launcher so rather than installing a replacement, anyone come across a way of resetting it?
In the meantime, will be seriously contemplating a factory reset......wow.

^^
This was not the only reason I did rest it,have both Z1C and Z3C and the battery on Z1C is much better.
OK it is new.
Did turn Stamina mode on and added most of my apps, but still is far from what I read and used from the Z1C.
maybe my reset will help it.
anyway if you talk about this message... here it is.

Bingo, thanks chief.
Bit of a cop-out (Sony? Google?) on resetting the launcher to get it back whereas i've read others simply have an option within the options to get it back. Beware that if anyone does clear the data as the screen says, they'll have to redo their home screen layout.
Thanks again

Yeah, thanks. It was a bit of a pain rebuilding my launcher layout but at least the search bar is back.
Does anyone find that occasionally you need to make a big 'swipe' in order to switch screens? On the odd occasion I've went to switch screens and it just bounces back to the previous

Yes, that is also there but this is a different, more transparent one, which slips into a reserved space at the top of the home screen. It also stays there regardless of which screen you are viewing.

Not on the main home screen but on the lock-screen widgets i have - but i've still got the film on it while i wait my rhino shield. However, with it still there i have noticed a difference, well more of a reluctance in fact.
On another note, that magnetic charge cable arrived and it works well. What i didn't expect was how you have to handle the phone carefully in case it gets knocked off and you assume it's charging away. First world problems i guess

Yes I did have this on the first day but it stopped,
maybe because I use a different wallpaper..?
Try this wallpaper and see if it still does.

Is this what you guys are talking about?
The Persistent Google Search Bar on the Xperia Z3 can be slightly baffling
