@Cybervisitor

Are u somebody from SE as u seem to know everything what is happening. u have mentioned almost everything in detail. i had taken my k700i to be upgraded to R2AA003 and my mp3 files got corrupted and could not be deleted. Lucky the SE service centre in Qatar is good and nothing like mentioned in the forums here. they agreed to replace my phone and in the meantime gave me another replacement phone till a new piece arrived in the first week of november..

and i noticed that the replacement phones have a red cross mark on the phone label (near the sim card). does it mean something or just to identify that it is a replacement phone.

and is there any difference between the replacement phones that come in the small packets (minus battery and back cover) and the pieces that we buy off the shelf.

Can new SE update service fix already corrupted firmware?

My K700 is fine but I'm just wondering.

@stoneroses

no. the corrupted firmware will not become alright even if u manage to downgrade / upgrade to another version.

get it exchanged for a new piece at your SE service centre and join the group of ppl who have exchanged it till now.

Just checked my update service log file and when I updated to R2L i got 2 corruptions but right underneath it shows that the files were sent again and sent successfully this time so I am guessing that if you do get a corruption the update service should recognise this and re-send the files that didn't work.

Maybe on the people's phones who did have corrupt firmware, the update service simply refused to send them again and moved on.

@DC:UK

Did you do an upgrade recently, since the service became available again?

I have the same as DC:UK in my log, and yes, I did the upgrade before the service was down ...

Yes I did another upgrade last night and it gave me the invalid signature in my log but once again it shows that it sent successfully second time so I have run 3 updates now and two have come back with these errors, one before the site went down and one after, the one that went ok was done before the site went down so I cannot come to any sort of conclusion!!!

I think that it should work ok from now on as when these errors do occur the update service retries instead of just moving on and leaving the firmware with missing files, certainly no problems on my phone. I have checked all animations, pictures, frames, templates, remote control files, melodies, symbols games and applications and found nothing to be amiss, and the phone functions fine too.

I bought a K700i in the UK, Verison R1a, which doesn't support chinese word. Now I want to send and receive chinese SMS, I am not sure whether it is able to support chinese by upgrading to a new software version.

I love this phone but i noticed a slight difference between mine, and a girl's i know. her's has a little red light blimping on the uppersite of the phone. I can't get this to work except when i do sum service tests

BTW I've got R2L001 can sum1 tell me how i can use that light, just because i like it:P ohw and another question; if i try to answer a phonecall....i alwayas have to wait for 3 sec. or someting till they hear my voice on the other side...what's up with that....?

thanks in advance XgALFzkb
