If you simply plug and unplug the phone from the CDS-60 whilst the PC is on (IE the Mem duo is handed over to windows) without copying data then file corruption occurs. To check this out press the volume buttons in standby to view the status screen, note the available memory, then plug/unplug from USB and check available memory again. My phone keeps dropping files. I havent had a single file drop since I took the USB cable out of the CDS-60and use a usb mem stick to copy the data to the mem duo.
Interesting what you say about the fastport. I believe this applies to the SE headset as I have difficulties when using it for MP3s.

Hi Guys,
First post so be gentle with me as i might cover somthing that has already bee said. Is it worth updating it, I can hardly hear some MP3's set as ring tones. and the camera pictures look a little grainey. Dont shout at me please

Given that there are serious problems associated with the r1n firmware and mempy sticks, i'd hold off on treating until a more stable firmware is released. Welcome to esato!

My phone firmware is R1J ,i've read all this forum and i think it is not worth updating to R1N.
The question is how can i update my phone into r1L (and not r1N).

I believe I've identified a reason why MS Duo cards are gettign corrupted. Like others, my card was corrupted whilst copying a large file (in my case, a 70mb video) to the card.
Basically, the top level folder ended up being full of crud and I lost 400mb of data (all backed up of course)...
So I formatted the card whilst in the phone using the "format ext mem" option in file manager. Fine, except it did it again.
So, I tried a R1L002 phone with the card. It worked, unlike my R1N035 O2 branded K750i. Time to do some work.
To cut a long story short, it appears that the R1N035 firmware doesn't verify-write whilst in USB slave mode (i.e. working as a USB memory stick). One little issue, and there goes your memory stick.
I've also noticed that a large number of SE USB host cables don't make a clean connection to the fastport on the phone. The same issue appears to happen with the CDS-60 stand. And I believe SE know's about this issue, as the P900 and W900 phone's have less embedded fastport connectors as the W800 & K750 phones. Only by .5 mm, but that's enough to make a better connection...
good point happy...I wondered myself since I've noticed headset connection problems as well as cable (it makes the connecting bleep several times before it eventually connects well). However on R1L and previous must do write checking hence it not causing problems with data transfers, but does still cause probs for the analog audio connection (untill you get a nice firm connection).
Those peeps on R1N having problems may have better luck if they clean the connectors and hold the connector in firmly while the files are transferring. This may also explain the screwed up updates (drops connection while updating phone).
My cable at work (I don't use it that often) doesn't bleep at me several times when I plug it in, whereas the one at home which I use all the time has started to do so, so when I get home I'm gonna spread out the little loops that hold the connctor in to see if it gets a firmer grip and eliminates the bleeping. If it works it will indicate that the cable connection becomes looser the more it is used.
It would be interesting if the peeps with R1N who don't have problems rarely use the cable and use bluetooth mostly.

Just to add to the BT discussion, I'm on R1N, and I have to confirm each individual file when sending from PC to K750i. Given that using the cable is currently not an option, this is a royal pain in the proverbial.

yes, rather!
tomchadwin - using bluetooth with something like myphoneexplorer you can copy multiple files without confirmation for each (both ways)
