@TGP: Most ISPs quote theoretical maximum speeds. Take Starcomms as another example. They claim 100+ kbps, but their system is clocked at about 40kbps as well.

Alas, I too have been re-connected to the MTN gprs service, though it took 19 tries, well worth it considering that these past two days without access, cost me 920naira using glowap.
@TGP: I think you will find this connection faster than your ctl connection if you logon from 11pm as I do. I have downloaded all the upgrades I needed for my pc using this service. 163mb......

@amby: Good to have you back, before you guys think angelgirl and I have bribed someone at MTN technical to keep us online while the rest of you sulk

My GPRS Counter: 342mb and still going.

Truth be told: I have recouped every kobo I spent on MTN in the last 4 years x10 from this free GPRS thing alone

I didn't think you'd still be awake.
I almost thot you and angel had done some kind of undergee moves to enjoy this thing alone.
I have never owned an MTN line. for some reason, I just disliked them from start. The sim I am using is a disused one my friend abandoned, but somehow, MTN has softened my stone heart towards them with this free trial. I try not to calculate the monetary value of what I have benefited, lest I begin to feel guilty.

I use my GPRS connection round the clock and it delivers favourably fast. Most of the time, its faster than the CyberCafes in my area. Most of the time.

I'm not that lucky, getting outlook to send/recieve my mails anytime after 9am is a battle not to talk of opening bbc or some other large web page.

@amby: Really! It must be your location.

I am able to publish webpages and documents, carry out online transactions and monitor our hosting platform 24/7 on GPRS where I stay.

Okay. Anyone wants to call MTN customer care now, go ahead. The service has been officially announced in the papers.

@angel: Try K300i: between N17k and N19k.
