Hi all,
R1GB001 has been released for K790 too.
I successfully updated my K790 to R1GB001 via FOTA from India
Hi mwarner,
Its time to update your firmware details for K790 too.
Note that i have added one more item to bug fixes.
R1GB001
- Released in SE Service Centres around 15/12/06
- Released on Wotan on 30/12/06
- Released on SEUS 3/1/07 (Some regions only). Note EROM CID changed to 51 through SEUS.
Improvements
- Updated Video folder - video thumbnails now play when they are hovered over.
- Highlighted menu item animation is now supported.
Bug fixes
- Bug in search facility in applications folder is now fixed.
- Thick black line flashes on screen at the start and end of video playback when playing video in Vertical mode through the File Manager now fixed.
- Selecting More / Information on the Applications and Games folders no longer returns 0KB used and 0 files.
New Bugs
User Interface
- Video preview can crash the phone if the video is encoded as high quality MP4. Note that video preview cannot be turned off, although you can view the folder as a list to avoid the issue.
- Video preview can introduce a lag if the video is encoded in excessively high quality.
Intermittant / Non-working functionality
- Games and applications installed on memory stick from before the update will not work after the upgrade. Note that games and applications installed into phone memory will still function correctly.

thanks for the advise........hoa can i rewrite the erom?
Well I think you have updated through SEUS to R1GB right (because the crash video thumbnail preview on high quality video is a bug in R1GB) ? R1GB has update the EROM to CID51 and I am afraid there is no loader yet able to rewrite CID51 EROM. You should update EROM first before upgrading firmware to R1GB.
However it seems that you have overcome WSOD (because you seems to be able to test the video?).
If you still experience WSOD then you have to bring it to authorised service centre.
You can check what is your EROM ver. The latest is R3A016.

Has anyone been able to update to R1GB via FOTA? It's time to share. FOTA always comes later, yet for some users it's considered easier.
About the missing volume green balls bug, as what was stated by the previous poster---sorry don't exactly remember the name---I can confirm that if you experience it, simply go to standby and lock the phone/lock the keypad! It goes back to normal. Thanks to the founder of the 'remedy'.

Well this you can count me in. Stupid shit got my phone to hang and the only solution was to remove the battery. I only got small high quality clips and i only hope SE will update the shit as soon as possible.

Yeah the problem seems related to the encoding not by the file size. So even 1sec of very high quality clip may crash the phone. I am using high quality QVGA-stereo 3gp (maybe just a medium quality mpeg4) and it run OK. It crash if you use video preview though.

Does anyone ever have this problem? When i attach a picture to a contact it usually comes up when that person texts me. However every so often just the name comes up and the picture vanishes. I have to restart my phone to get it back
