@mongoo ah sorry I never realised that's what the problem was, seems strange that this offer isn't available over the pond

I'm hoping it will become available once Z1 is officially sold in stores here. SonyMobile US website still doesn't even list the Z1.

it seems to be totally sim related as I tried through a VPN for UK and it didn't work even though my phone was bought from Clove - my current sim is Thai

A lot of people on XDA are complaining about Blur on photos, also pictures that involve lines which come out wonky and wavy and not straight and other issues, sort this out Sony unless the lens on these phones are all faulty? in which case that would be terrible for Sony and put people off buying Sony phones in the future.

My 12 hours experience with the camera- Don't be too hard on northmonkey as there does seem to be a focus issue which causes the photos to not appear as sharp as it could be especially in low light situations. Shoot enough frames and eventually you'll get one that lives up to its full potential, but by then you would have been irritated lol. Haven't been able to shoot anything yet in daylight so I'll reserve my comments on that for now. However, I find the camera to be very responsive and shutter speed is fast even in low light conditions meaning you can give the camera to a monkey and it will still produce nice pics to the untrained eyes (no pun intended). I pretty sure this is what Sony's talking about when they said it has the best camera experience or something to that effect which I would then agree with. However, there's not a lot to be desired when it comes to the mobile Exmor-RS sensor which I think has been and still is work in progress since Xperia Z. BIONZ is working really hard to make images look decent IMHO. I miss my Xperia V quality aready but I'm sure when I'm done exploring this baby, I won't be missing my XV all that much anymore, especially with its super good looks, solid feel and zippy performance in every other department!

oh i don't deny there are things that can be improved. i just don't think someone who comes here only to point out negatives when they 1) have no interest 2) never owned or touched the device and 3) have no interest (yes i know i said it twice) -- should come here to ruin it for others. just my 2 cents.
the camera is nice but can be improved. hopefully the rumors about the beast of a camera update (i.e., the TRUE bionz processing) will be coming soon. It has a lot of options and settings.. all of which will take some time to get used to. From what i've seen and what i've produced so far, daylight photos are very nice. sharp with good color and detail, but with a bit too much processing. night shots are decent but can definitely be improved, especially the auto focus in low light. it can be a lil slow.

So based on the rumors and whatnot, what exactly IS this huge camera firmware update supposed to bring to the table? I've been hearing things like true BIONZ functions, new JPEG compression algorithm and whatnot. Do we have a list of what's supposed to be included?
It might be nice to see new features like 4K and 120 FPS recording, but those aren't make or break functions anyways.
