vivftp - it is back, but you can take it off. this time the sony logo is not printed on it.

Are we sure it'll be on future devices as well? I haven't heard about it being on any other phones than the Z3+... are there others?

I'm sorta mixed about the shatterproof sheet. On the one hand my Xperia X10a and Z Ultra have suffered MANY hard drops without a cracked screen, likely due to the shatterproof sheet. On the other hand, they are more suseptible to scratches and I think fingerprints than the glass screens.

Ah well, even if the next Ultra has it, I won't be upset. I just want them to make it the same as the next flagship, but bigger.

Sony Xperia Z5 specs look intimidating

by Justin Mahboubian-Jones |

Sony's latest handset looks to be all about the big numbers.

A report from PhoneArena may have lifted the lid on the innards of the Sony Xperia Z5.

Top of the spec list is the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC CPU, which in tests provided moderate performance boosts over its predecessor the 810, but failed to match up to the Exynos 7420 found in the Samsung Galaxy S6. This raw processing horsepower will be backed up by 4GB of RAM.

Next comes battery life: the Xperia Z5 is said to hold a gargantuan 4500mAh. To put that in context, the LG G4 features a 3000mAh battery and the Samsung Galaxy S6 a 2550mAh battery. Size isn't everything, and dependent on the power usage of the other components and factors like degradation, the running time improvements might not be massive, but they should definitely be notable.

Last but not least comes the camera, which the report indicates will be the massive 21MP Sony Exmor RS, which is capable of recording 4K video. This would put the Xperia Z5 almost at the top of the pile for camera megapixels. The camera inside the iPhone 6 is less than half as powerful (on paper, at least).

Rumour indicates that Sony will be unveiling the handset in Japan in September. We hope the end product turns out to be as intimidating as these specs would have us believe, especially as the recently-launced Xperia Z3+ - decent phone though it is - doesn't really feel like a giant or innovative leap over its predecessor.

This is ridiculous, these sites are just regurgitating the previous BS article from technodify, which provided no source or info where they got their specs from. 4500mah would be overkill for a normal phone, a phablet perhaps but even that could cause an increase in thickness.

@ascariss

Journalism 101.

As a football fan, I'm going through the exact same thing at the moment with the summer transfer window being open. 95% of articles published are rubbish. Just to attract readers/attention.

Won't be long before more concrete info starts to creep out.

@vivftp
Z3+ doesn't have a shatter film, thanks god. it has a regular plastic screen protector which sony installed in the manufacturing process. you can take it off easily if you don't want it.
@difenbaker
Not new, the source of the questionable info is technodify and it was posted yesterday already. all other sites just report the news from that site.

Well, provided that the 4500mah battery is real. I welcome it if it doesn't mess up the form factor. Who doesn't want more battery life? It's like saying you make enough money.......
