I am glad Sony does not care about Apple.
Notch is impossible. They would probably try to use cam beneath screen instead of ugly notch.
Sony, Samsung and HTC may be the ones without notch this year.
G7 has notch, OP6 has notch, P20 has notch and Moto X5 too.
Something else, the way that guy from Qualcomm speaks about their partnership with Sony, I suspect XZ2P has 5G.
Because the specs of U12 say it has 5G.
After April, looks like JDI will be able to ship the screen FPS
Imagine if this phone has 4K HDR OLED, screen FPS, 5G and super low-light cam

I think they were talking about s855 with 5G posted a few pages back, won’t be ready until 2019 at the earliest on 7nm die.

He did confirm the new dual camera setup for the next flagship.. This denies rumors that stated that it is just a concept.. But the real question is, when will this phone be released? IFA ?

He also confirmed 4K for the next flagship.
I doubt Sony will attend or hold any kind of event other than CES, MWC, and IFA, though. They might just announce the phone out of the blue.

I doubt it though.. Such an announcement would not draw the kind of attention that IFA or MWC would.. Or a private conference would.. My bet is IFA OR JULY LAUNCH.. This is because Ricciolo tweeted about the xperia next big thing and gave an emoji of 7,which might indicate july... Just my guess

IFA while a good bet for any new phone, but there can be other announcements at IFA that can also overshadow any new xperias.
Sony did just announce the A7 mark III out of the blue, so there is that to consider.
Last year, IFA had the XZ1 line an XA1 plus, Hideyuki Furumi did the announcements at IFA last year so there is a high chance that any new flagship could arrive there, along with any upgrades to the XZ2 line if it receives any.
Of course Sony might want to have the dual camera phone ready for their Japanese mobile carriers so this would mean an earlier release, so Spring 2017.
Sony knows that dual cam phones is the way to go but no doubt they didn't want to just do what everyone else was doing so this is why they wanted to design this new Fusion ISP in order to help the phone process the images better. Will be interesting what lenses and apertures Sony will use on the new dual cam phone, but I am looking forward to the release.

About dual cam.
Ppl bash Sony because de f2.0, but as the sensor becomes larger the f gets smaller. That is why we often see values smaller than f4.
There is the DEPTH OF FIELD story too, not just amount of light in.
It is easy to see that Sony works with lower EXPOSITION, to make photos look more real.
If you set same ISO and SS, 1/2.3" + f2 catches more light than smaller sensors with a bit bigger f.
If you look at DUAL CAM, each seems to have a different value of f.
I am curious to see if they are 1/2.3" or 1/2".
If Sony can manage to deliver high quality at high ISO like cameras do, XZ2P can easily pou any other to shame.
The demo used at MWC could easily outperform iphone X by at least 500%.
It is like to compare human vision x tiger vision in the woods at night.

The dual cam demo at MWC is very impressive indeed. I read a few articles of reviewers checking it out and it's very cool. For years xperia phones have had low light photos trashed in reviews due to lack of OIS for low light. Sure, you can and do get good photos with a tripod and some know how, but with the new dual cam set up, it seems possible that you can get crazy detailed photos in very low light, even without a tripod and manual controls.
Add to that the fusion processor to process the photos better, it seems sony has taken all of their criticism over the past few years and have addressed them (or at least tried to, it remains to be seen) with this dual cam module. I very much look forward to it. By the time the 2nd iteration of this dual cam is out, i'll be ready to upgrade and that phone will be MINE. can't wait.

You say that now, but when the new XZ2P is out looking and performing absolutely mouth watering, you're wallet will definitely go on that diet!

hahaha...
no! i must resist!! it's only been a year with my XZP... the specs for the pro sound great but the design has to be good too. i have to say, i'm not a huge fan of the curved back of XZ2. so, i hope the design of the pro is different.
