There has been a few 'light-ups' here in Liverpool.
Last Sunday my mates mum, who is 60+, was in a city centre pub and she just lit up.
The bouncer came over and told her to put it out but she didn't.
Next thing 5 other people stood by her and all lit up cigarettes at the same time and just told the bouncer to eff off and if the ciggy was going out it was going out in his eye
I hate it though batesie, I really do.
There are pubs I know of that are staying open after-hours just so that people can have a ciggy and a drink at the same time.

My office won't even let us smoke outside the building now, we have to go for a walk or to an open space somewhere....makes me feel like a lepper.

It's a piece of nonsense. Yet another example of people in a supposedly free country being told how to run their lives. By all means smokers should be considerate, but we should also have the right to smoke if we wish.
Yes I know it's bad for me. Yes I know it can cause various diseases. However, it is my choice. Are we to ban fatty foods or booze because they can cause disease? If we banned everything that had the potential to harm us we couldn't do anything.
Incidentally you can now smell the damp and urine that infests our pubs. At least the smoke covered it up!

indeed the floor that was once just a sticky carpet now stinks of stale beer.
Theres a strip club in Soho in london where the owner is allowing all clients to still smoke, and if they get a fine, he'll pay if for them.
His main point being is he is worried about the saftey of his staff, and doesnt want the lovely ladies having to go out side everytime they smoke.
what a legend.

Ye!! We all go to bars knowing its full of smoke!! If we didnt like smoke we could go watch a movie or go to a restaurant, simple!

Exactly.
I think there should be licenced smoking pubs.
What gets me is that the very name 'Pub' stands for Public House with 'Public' being the operative word!! They aren't very public if certain patrons have to be excluded.
At least there was non-smoking pubs for people to go to before the ban. Smokers now don't have any choice.

AND there were loads of no smoking pubs about anyway! and most other pubs have a non smoking area!

Now THAT'S the best idea I've heard in ages!
Dancing and gambling in public premesis is illegal without a license, so why not smoking?
It'd generate the lost revenue from people giving up smoking that the Government wants to recover by putting the price of booze up (again)!
