Never had a virus prob on 6680 (and we had 3 at work for 1 1/2 years), e61 (10 months) or treo750v... So your antivirus was preinstalled? Guess some deal between antivirus maker and nokia or the network? Like pc's that come with loads of useless programmes that all start on boot just to show you how slow stuff can get?!

nah the disadvantage of antiv. on far outweigh the minimal risk of infection - imho it's just a market niche they want to exploit!

...sorry, no idea! Here in the wild west of ireland people think wifi is food for gay dogs
haven't had a chance to try! But I can surf the internet "forever"...well, compared to k750 or my lady's w810 or my treo, so I would assume in comparison wifi-battery life should be good, too!

Hi Bickit,

I have approximately 25mb ram on boot up up and by using Best Taskman for some control never see much under 19mb Ram. My battery lasts for days with out the need to charge even if i run Tom Tom for some journeys but as i said i don't lave loads of things all running when not needed. I also noted that it says mig33 Beta and many users over various platforms have mentioned that it drains battery and seems to use a lot of Ram. The E61i is really not that different from the E61 especially in the Ram department but using a Task Manager means i have never needed to reboot my E61.

As to how long can it run using WiFi there are to many variables for a straight answer, is it just on or is the device browsing and sending IM messages, how close to the Network Router is it but the Li-Polymer battery is an excellent battery with plenty of juice IMO.

I have tried to explain my usage and why i don't have any problems and also that people really need to understand the limitations of any device. If people really need to use it the way you are saying they need to have the next generation of devices like the E90 that has the extra Ram as unfortunately Symbian 9.1 does consume a lot of Ram. At least until hopefully early next Year when we should start to see OMAP3 series chips and a newer version of Symbian being used which should improve the situation greatly.

Marc

Hi All,

I've just bought an E61i Sim Free. Going to be using it on the Vodafone IE network. Anyone know if i'm going to have to change settings on the phone to be able to browse the Web etc??

Also, to anyone who already has the phone - how is the screen for non-scratching? I've currently got an N70 - and i have to say that the screen is virtually unscratchable. By far the most durable screen on a Nokia phone that i've had so far.
How does the E61/E61i compare i wonder??

Hi Paddy, Have been using e61 on vodafone.ie for 10 months! The settings wizard will setup correct gprs sttings for you! easy...
chose MISP as access point rather than wap (are you prepay? MISP only euro2.00/mb!!!)

Hi Maggflodd,

Should i call vodafone and tell them i've got an E61 then (even though it will be the as of yet unapproved by vodafone E61i)??
Yep, i'm on prepay alright - 2.00/mb isn't bad at all

How do you find your screen for scratching?

Mine is unregistered, but I suppose you can register it online as an e61 (but yoyu'd only need that for unlocking, wouldn't you; and yours is probably unlocked!?)!!!
10 months, no scratches...but I treat it well!

I was under the impression that there were different network settings for different handsets... and that it's best that vodafone know what handset you're using? Probably very naiive of me....

@Paddy_Fowler

You should find on inserting the Sim the phone will automatically collect all the settings. But if you need or want to set up E-Mail or any other settings just go to this link and it will send them to your phone.

https://nokiags.wdsglobal.com/advanced?siteLanguageId=118

That should sort out anything you want to do, re the screen mine is also still mint but then i do look after my things and use a good quality case.
