aw man.. making me drool random.. it's hard enough waiting for a US retailer to put the Z1 up for sale but with all these sample photos, i want it even more!
I need it nowwww. my flickr account needs some use
@sassho - you won't because 1) sony camera sensors for mobile are exclusive to sony xperia phones and 2) G lens is sony exclusive, 3) BIONZ is sony exclusive.
Anyway, I'm done addressing the haters. If ya don't like it get something else. That will express your disappointment more than posting here. I look forward to getting my Z1 and posting photos here

Keep dreaming. Z1 sensor is exclusively for Xperia and is custom made for Z1. It's not for sale EVER

True that, it seems to me, the NR is not really kicking at all hence the amount of luminance noise(which is a less uglier form of noise than chroma) all over the image even at ISO100, though the good thing is that a simple denoising with PS/Lightroom will rid them out. if we look at the the QX10 camera tests, you'll notice that both Z1 and QX10 had the same sensor performance but QX10 NR works better. the luminance noise is the ugly sight on the full size samples, but this does not mean it didn't have the 20MP details it was supposed to render.
I would like to see this camera in SGS5 next year.
Too bad It won't come
this custom sensor is exclusive to Sony from what we've known from our community sources. Samsung/LG either would end up using a smaller sensor or they'll be forced to design/buy sensor chips.

AndroidAuthority opinion on Z1
Sony’s Xperia Z1 is one wicked device, surpassing the quality of most flagships that launched this year. It’s packing some insane hardware, such as the Snapdragon 800 and its monstrous 20.7-megapixel camera, and, of course, the Exmor RS Sensor.
If there’s one device that’s ready to shake up the Android world, it’s the Xperia Z1, though that’s not to say devices like the HTC One aren’t good anymore. On the contrary, they’re great handsets!
What’s happened here is that Sony has set a new bar of expectations. Going forward, I’d expect to see companies echo the sheer amount of quality that went into the Z1 with their own future handsets.

How many angry peoples here
I say Z1 camera is good with nice optic , color reproduction and big aperture. But terrible postprocessing and strong noise reduction put down quality. I'm shure same Z1 camera will show Best results in SGS5 for examlpe.
More 20mp samples here

Few things to keep in mind
1. All photo samples so far have been taken in Auto mode. It's well know that Auto mode in Sony phones delivers quite inferior results when compared to Manual mode. Using manual mode on Z1 with the right settings will deliver way better results even with the current firmware.
2. The final picture processing engine is still not ready and hence currently Z1 uses similar processing as Z/ZL, with the new camera firmware (possibly out in October) the camera quality will jump much higher.
3. Low light shots have also been taken in Auto when Z1's main party trick for low light imaging is Handheld Twilight Mode. Using HHT mode will deliver much superior low light samples.
@Sassho
I don't think you understand -
Z1 sensor is custom made, not for sale and will not be available on any non Sony smartphone [ This Message was edited by: randomuser on 2013-09-06 11:13 ]

Just want to bring this to the attention of US based users here. As an alternative to importing the Z1, Negri Electronics have the Z1(only in black) up for preorder and arrival date should be around 9/20/13. As a friendly reminder, what they sell are grey market products, so no US warranty. The good thing about Negri is that they're willing to help you claim warranty at the country of origin. Here's the link guys:

Forgot to reply to this. I saw this and am very tempted! How do you know they only deal with gray market products? I looked on their site and couldn't find any mention of this. They seem to be a very reputable seller based on internet reviews.
It concerns me a bit that sonymobile.com US/Canada sites haven't updated to show the Z1 yet. I hope that doesn't mean we'll be left out of the "global" release this month.. that would suck.
@shotokan - don't know if you saw this already or if someone posted it and i missed it
