I just said the distortion is physical issue, and not cheap lenses.
Sony, Sigma, Leica, Nikon, Laowa etc make lenses and none could get rid of it.
Would they really be that stupid to advertise G lens if it was just a cheap one?
LG since V30 uses glass lens, which is supposed to be better than the plastic ones all other brands use. How can G7/v40 do worse than G6? 6 is already worse than G5/G4.
Sony did not hide the fact X, XZ and XZP had plastic frame, that XZs had emmc storage.
On the other hand, other brands sell plastic as metal, ufs 2.0 as 2.1, ddr3 as ddr4.
If you do not remember I really do not like Xz2.
The fingerprint, speakers design and screen 18:9.
For those that think the camera is worse than iPhone 7 or S7:

Some people here should forget what Verge, Phone Arena, Supersaf and Mr Whose the boss say.
BTW, the oled issues are already seen on Xz3. The so called best screen tech makes another victim.

Distortion on Xperia's G lens is not match with any type of usual distortion. The Wide angles lens usually come with barrel distortion but Xperia's G lens distortion is freaking funny as it change the straight line look like some wave.

There are 3 types of distortion for wide angles. Barrel is just one of them.

Well to be fair, the device they showed is not the final design. They stated on stage that they're not showing the complete device. That reveal was more to show the flexible screen aspect of the device.
I am curious how close Sony and LG Display are to their own solution.

Justin Denison was great. I got really excited! Feels like it's the next step in the evolution.

Sony are slow. They've lost the ascendency they once had in consumer electronics due to the mistakes they made in the 2000s. They just aren't putting as much money into smartphone R&D or rather more critically - marketing. I only see Facebook ads for Xperia Smartphones. Nothing on TV.
Doesn't surprise me that Xperias don't sell any more, and that their tech is so far behind. I hope unlike Vaio they don't cut the division off. But if they want to keep it, they need to commit to it. Do it properly.

I agree. They really need a total change of leadership in the mobile division. Someone who understands the market and knows how to fight for a dying division

Umm, didn't they get new leadership in mobile very recently? From the interviews we should be seeing the first results of the new leadership at MWC.
