Is Nokia more in touch with customers? Not in my opinion, they are, however, able to target all areas of the market, which means that they can appeal to a broad range of people. SE will hopefully expand its range of mobiles over the coming year and will be in a better position to provide 'something for everyone', so to speak.

Nokia is definitely not in touch with customers, that's why they have to reduced the prices of many of their rubbish handsets because most of customers don't find them that attractive anymore. Once they reduced their price, they were again in the game but not because of technologicaly edge. This ended up with lower profit compared to last year.

I am just saying that Nokia has an edge within the context of my presented points. i have mentioned this does NOT mean Nokia triumphs over SE in everything.

I think some of u just cannot accept the fact that Nokia is better than SE in certain areas. To u SE is "king of the world".

Which areas SE is better than Nokia? I am still waiting for pro-SE members to present this (hopefully with logical and non-rhetoric points)

u r the only one who makes logical and fact-based arguments. i really hate to be the spoiler here. Whether smartphone takes off or not, it will still be a win-win situation for Nokia with Series60.

Nokia don't even need to market Series60 as smartphone category. If necessary, they can turn of the customisability option (just like DoCoMo did with their 3G symbian). The UI of Series60 is very easy to use but yet powerful. It has tabbed form which SE has just adopted in K700/S700. Also it has themes and many advanced features.

Series60 is Nokia new major UI/OS platform (just like Series40 was). With Series60 Symbian backbone, Nokia can deploy new phones/functionalities at a fraction of the cost and at greater speed.

Just take a look at 6670 which is target at business users. Everything is the same as 7610 except software (such as VPN, QuickOffice). Once the 3G 6630 and 8*** Series60 are launched in Nov, the 7610 and 6670 will be level down as mid-range phone like the K700. Tell me, will there be any mid-range phone that pack that kind of functionalities like 7610/6670. Ditto for 6630/8*** in the higher end segment.

At the same time a smaller 3*** series60 and the 6230 (or its upgrade) will complete the lower-mid range to compete with the likes of K500. Once again the question is does Nokia competitors have any phone that can match this power?.

Nokia has already overcome initial teething problems (such lagging and stability) of Series60. They are also working on a graphic accelerator chip for Series60 so that it can support full-screen full-motion video capability.
