When is this due? Same as the Z1f was in japan? late in the year? Or earlier? I wonder if the new sensor the 1/2.4 is only be used on the Z3?
Has the Z2 been announced in japan yet? Feels more than 6m since the z1 was launched in japan.

Yes I know, but it will be good value if the price is right. How do you know it's an IPS screen btw?

IMO, maybe it get skipped, for Z2 Compact to rival down to iPhone-savvy trend and Z3 in before the year end (in the same timeframe of Z1 Compact -but it would be sort of bad because follow after new iPhones launch).

They were supposed to mention something about it during BUILD, but so far nothing in today's keynote..

I am guessing that Sony will do their own event later this month. It makes even more sense now since WP is free for OEMs .. which means that it will be cheaper to make WP than it is Android phones since you have to pay licensing fees for using android and you don't have to pay anything in order to use WP 8.1

I don't think they will mention anything today, so I was looking to find some insider info, as if Sony WP to be released mid year, it must exist already in prototypes and stuff. Besides you're right, WP will now be $15-20 cheaper to produce than crapdroid.

The timing of it all is a bit off since they sold the Vaio line ... I thought that they will tie the WP smartphone into the tablet/PC/2in1 Vaios ...
Maybe they will just add WP to the Xperia line along with a tablet ?
Either way Sony design + camera engineering combined with WP 8.1 is a no brainer in terms of aesthetics and marketing in general

1 Sony will continue to deliver compact phone. The next generation will be shipped by the end of this year.
2 The designing of Xperia will change a bit for the 2nd half with the edge getting round.

Highly doubt any Windows Phone anytime soon. If it was the case, MS wld have announced Sony as a WP partner at the main event..
