I am guessing that Sony will do their own event later this month. It makes even more sense now since WP is free for OEMs .. which means that it will be cheaper to make WP than it is Android phones since you have to pay licensing fees for using android and you don't have to pay anything in order to use WP 8.1
Android is free, any additional costs comes from Microsoft suing various manufacturers because if you can't beat them, sue them. Sony is one of the android manufacturers that doesn't pay such additional licensing fees as far as I know. So nothing will be cheaper to make, both OSes are free, the fact some pay a license fee to microsoft is not part of the OS price directly.
As unknown mentioned, I didn't see Sony on the partner list.

Even Samsung's WP effort is only for US only for now and there was no event for it, it was just announced. Shows how much Samsung believes in WP, basically a rebadged S4, running windows 8, not 8.1
On a side note, it's unfortunate that Sony sold off their Vaio division, since they could have created a tablet, 8 inch or even up to 8.9 inch running windows with no cost for OS.

about 64 bit, i read that the future 64 bit android OS and apps will require 4gb of ram to work efficiently. does that mean Z3 is likely to have 4gb of ram?

While not strictly to do with Xperia devices, Sony is expected to present their new curved image sensor technology at an upcoming technology symposium. Sony registered patents for a curved sensor back in 2012, but remember patents are often registered by companies without ever materialising in an actual consumer product.
Sony's sensor is described as an "advanced imaging system that comprises a curved, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor (BIS) and integrated lens which doubles the sensitivity at the edge of the image circle and increases the sensitivity at the center of the image circle by a factor of 1.4 ". However, before anyone gets too excited over combining a curved camera with an Xperia Arc design, this tech is expected to eventuate in a much larger camera instead (think Full Frame, not 1/2.3″ as with Z1/Z2).
Perhaps further down the road we might see a smaller 1/2.3" or 1/1.7" curved CMOS sensor, but the benefits may be substantially reduced compared to FF or APS-C.
Something else related to cameras: a few pages back we discussed the possibility of BIONZ making an appearance in upcoming Xperia devices. Something we all missed: the Z2 already has a BIONZ image-processing engine. It's labelled "BIONZ for Mobile", which simultaneously validates my branding prediction and inflates my ego ten-fold.
However, Ramu may still be correct as it is unclear whether the Z2's BIONZ processing is done through a dedicated chip (as with Sony's Alpha line) or the S801 instead.

Thanks for the clarification. So essentially we're still waiting on a dedicated chip (AKA Alpha range), which is looking unlikely at this stage.
That awkward moment when you turn over the box your Z1 came in and notice it clearly lists BIONZ For Mobile as a feature.

alpha rumours a new A7s camera, 12MP, 4K, wonder if this will use the new curve sensor?

Alpha Rumours are pretty on the ball when it comes to their info, but I doubt the A7s would herald this new curved sensor. The technology still seems in its infancy, unless Sony wanted to take the market by surprise. Curved sensors would be a step-change in terms of potential image quality output. It makes sense to usher it in via a new flagship like the A7R II, although SAR mentioned the RX2.
As for BIONZ: agreed. I think I was the one that mentioned the issues with heat. Plus, with Xperia flagships already making use of software-based processing, I'm doubtful that a dedicated chip would bring much tangible improvement. It may be too much investment for little return or recognition by customers/reviewers, and that's without mentioning the drawbacks with battery/heat/size.
