I wouldn't say confusing but surprisingly awesome. it usually takes sony 1.5-2 months to launch a new flag in most regions as far as i remember, one of their weaknesses, especially in the us. if they manage to launch them as close as possible to announcement time then it is only an advantage for them regardless of rivals launch date. sony doesn't have anything new to offer in a lot of countries and when z3+ is available it is not so attractive option.

Will the 820 be ready by mid to late September? I mean will it ship to customers or will Sony only introduce it at IFA? Reports are for the 820 to be ready for a November shipping date unless Qualcomm has brought up the release date and devices will ship in September or early October? Around 5-6 weeks before anything could be announced.

Yes, because of different codes. e55xx, e57xx i guess c5 and t5 ultra. it is not surprising and welcomed that "ultra" for sony now means a 5.8" display.

Ok there seems to be a mix up on model numbers and some confusion.
According to upleaks lavender = C5 ultra, E55xx and the
56xx specs leaked a while back, showing a 4.6 inch device, so clearly not the T4 or C5 ultra.
E20xx - E4g
E21xx - E4
E23xx - M4 Aqua
E53xx - C4
E55xx - Lavender = C5 ultra
E56xx - ??? - 4.6 inch device, cheap man's compact?
E58xx - Next compact?
E65xx - Z3+
E66xx - New flagship?
E68xx - New Phablet?
And now all of a sudden a new product code comes out?

Not saying the mobipicker source is questionable, but it just shows a photo of specs someone wrote out, I feel anyone can do that and just post it. Regardless, let us assume the E57xx exists, where does it fit?
E53xx - C4
E55xx - Lavender = C5 ultra (rumoured at 5.5 inches? basically exact same specs as C4!, makes no sense)
E56xx - ??? - 4.6 inch device, cheap mans compact?
E57xx - 5.8 inch, SD808, 1080p.
Conflicting reports, upleaks states the E55xx lavender is the C5 ultra, while other sites are saying the opposite, E55xx is T4 ultra, and E57xx is the C5 ultra. Personally I am not sure what to believe, with SD808 this phone does not feel mid-range, unless the 808 is considered mid-range now?
Either the specs of lavender are wrong, it is not a 5.5inch with the same mediatek as the C4 but a larger 5.7-6 inch device, or sony is replacing the C4 with the C5 ultra to keep the naming in line, or the e57xx is a China only model.

Well, one thing for sure, everything will be clear in a month and a half - ifa.
E57xx is the cheap man's ultra.
worst case senario:
E56xx - ??? - 4.6 inch device, cheap mans compact?
E57xx - 5.8 inch, SD808, 1080p.
ends as the next z5 ultra and compact.

i'm just kidding though, i can't see it happening especially after the next z5 line codes were published months ago and the spec is upper mid/non flag high end.
as you wrote the naming are confusing, maybe intentionally by sony but another thing for sure these are c/t or whatever devices, not flags.

These do seem mid-range but is the SD808 mid-range? or upper end of mid-range? It doesn't have h.265 encode, only h.264 which is a let down when it comes to 4K. I feel the E56xx cheap man's compact with the mediatek X10 will be a good bargain if priced right.

I think they should ditch the SD808 (which also gets pretty hot and drains the battery) and wait for SD620. Geekbench results from testing samples are very promising.

I think everyone here needs to lower their expectations from the Z5 as far as the chipset is concerned. No SD820
