Xperia Z camera shutter mod. Sorry if it's been posted already.

Hi all,

Have been looking at buying the Xperia Z for a while (probably going to wait for the Honami to surface now) but my friend bought one a few months ago and despises it, which puts me off further. He cites a number of reasons for hating it, but one main one and should be pretty simple is this.

Can someone please tell me if there is a way to organise your camera photos into custom photo albums on the phone? I thought this would be really obvious but he handed me the phone and I couldn't work it out - nor could the guy at the Sony store.

I think I'd find this to be quite a significant detractor if the Honami didn't have this feature either.

Thanks,
Dion

@Dion

The only real way to do that is to open a file browser and move the photos from the captured folder (DCIM/100andro) to another folder of your naming. The pictures will still appear in the 'Pictures' section of the Album app and in chronological order, but going to the 'My Albums' section and then to 'Internal Memory' or 'My SD card' (depending on where you moved the pics), you should see the folder/album where you have moved the pictures.

For doing this sort of task a file browser that shows thumbnails in a tile/icon style view is best. File Expert and Root Explorer both have this sort of view, others probably do too. Else, there may be other photo gallery/album apps in the Play Store that have the organisational functionality built-in.

On choosing Honami or Z, in my opinion, I would say if waiting till Q4 is ok for you and money isn't the issue then go for Honami. The non-covered headphone socket and the far superior chipset will be noticeable improvements. Honami will be the last killer handset before summer next year, it won't be trumped after 6 months like Z has been.

Try Xperia picture manager app by Sony. It is free when you buy an Xperia and can be found when you install Xperia Priviledges app or just search in Play store.

I thought part of the point of Android and smartphones in general is that when you can't do something, you just download an app that makes it possible. I'm sure there are plenty of great photo album apps that will do what you want.

Sony's photo app is unlikely to change dramatically between phones.

Try Sony's Picture Manager. Free when you purchase an Xperia. Play store or via Xperia Privilege app, where Sony announce other freebees too.

Dear All,

Has anyone got any problem with headphone cover?
It pops out from time to time.

Have you tried wiping around the gasket and inside the hole where the gasket would sit?

Yes I did.
I'll try to wipe it with a slicon spray.
That might help.
It usually does with the rubbers on the car.
