@MNX - so i asked those questions and here's what i got.

"Launched means when it is officially on sale in the US. We can provide repairs on imported phones. your best resource is the website."

no answers to any of my other questions. Just said to go to the website.

i think he's frustrated with me

Really? A copy of a program made by Google about 2 years ago is called innovation? What is wrong with everybody? Apple is called the most innovative company in the world, typical program is called innovation of the year, seriously what the f**k?

^what well thought out reply there admad! I expect nothing less from you. yah.. apple is called the most innovative company in the world. Many of the things they "invent" are things that they already existed but they simply improved.

in the same sense, Sony did the same with google goggles. Google Goggles will analyze a photo and guess a search query, which it executes against the google search engine to retrieve results. On the other hand, Sony has improved this by having dedicated databases, which they have licensed, to provide much more precise results and information on a limited number of items. Info-Eye doesn't work on everything (for that matter, neither does google Goggles), but for the things it was created to work on, it works really well and provides much more organized and detailed information.

This is tremendously more useful than having to sift through search results to find that information on your own. Goggles just saved you the time of typing in the query, Sony gives you the information you want right away.

People misunderstand the word innovation. It is not limited to break through ideas that have never existed. Modifying something that exists and introducing a new method, idea, etc. is still innovation.

interesting blind test.. personally, i think it's between 1 and 2. but everyone seems to be voting #5? 1 and 2 get much more detail. 2's kitchen photo just seems to be the unfortunate result of camera shake.

On first 2 photos I like "phone 2" images best, "phone 3" lacks both details and sharpness (I really hope Z1 isn't "phone 3")

On 3rd photo, phones 4 and 5 did much better than phones 1, 2 and 3 (you can notice blur from camera shake)

Cheers,
Miki

For those in the US waiting for the Z1!

According to my source the official US release date for Z1 is October 14th and it will go up for pre-order on Monday.

@ moogoo

I have no confirmation on that but it is most likely going to be the HSPA+ model. The strange thing is the SHOPBLT and PCNation have pulled the HSPA+ Z1 from their websites.

Is this a legit retailer?

@dacha oh ok.

and regarding that retailer - at that price, hell no. i wouldn't trust it. they'll charge you and make you wait months to get it or send you a Z or nothing at all!
