I rather like BA, I don't fly on any other airline if I can help it. The staff are extremely polite and helpful and I have never had cause to complain.
Their business and First class cabins are without a doubt the best in the business. Huzzah!

I'm not sure I would be as effusive in my praise of BA as scotty, although bar one recent trip in Club where the service was diabolical, they are pretty good generally.
I certainly would not advocate beating up the crew though. They are only doing their jobs, which do not appear to be a great deal of fun to me. Not when you have the first-class tossers that appear on all those "Airport"-type programmes who turn up too late to board their plane and then try and start on a 5' girl - that winds me up!

I've been flying BA club europe twice a week for the 4 years I have been doing this Frankfurt job and I loathe and detest the service.
They rarely make announcements when they are running late and when they do make annoucements the revised departure time is rarely accurate meaning that the call I made home for a new pickup time is useless.
Their inflight service is inconsistant and I generally sit in row 1 for a quick exit and during the flight all I can hear is loud squawking chatter from the cabin crew in the galley.
Indeed they appear to do the minimum job sometimes even forgetting to do the hot towels thing or giving us luke warm ones. When I ask for a second bacardi and coke they never give me a new glass with fresh ice and lemon unless I ask
At Gatwick, more often than not they pull up at the terminal right next to an air bridge and then proceed to lower the steps and force us all onto a bus!
I could go on but now their latest trick is to cancel gatwick-frankfurt altogether so that we have to go to heathrow or city which is great when I purposely placed my family 5 mins from gatwick so my travel time would be minimised
I've also had to do BA on the long haul to or from Sydney a few times when Qantas flights have been full but now I choose to change my date so I can still get the Qantas flight because the BA service just doesn't compare

@masseur
You must be flying with a different BA to me! I have neve rhad anything except exemplary service from them, they are always up to scratch.
I wouldn't trade BA for the world, I still have my Concorde passport holder and my little Concorde pencil.
The only other airline I would ever even consider using when a BA fligt is available is Singapore Airlines, for reasons that any seasoned traveller will tell you.

I've flown BA only once and i liked it.
The crew and service does vary from place to place.. Here in India we have an airlines 'Indian Airlines'. From my place, the flight and service is absolutely terrible but my friend who flies the same airline from a diff city told me they were very good...... It all depends on the crew for that particular flight and destination i think......

Emirates don't seem to do that. BA are just stingey bastards
What!.....ive only ever been abroad once....and on the way back even though we had payed for our excess luggage we were forced to change airlines to emirates at Dubai...Emirates charged us 400 quid!!! so you cant say they dont do it....they all do it
but its just the scum at check in who really got on ma nerves.....the flight crew were really really nice...if you know what i mean ;o) and service was excellent

Hello everyone,
Not been on Esato for ages and someone seems to have dug up an old thread!
I flew Emirates last summer for the first time for 5 years and I must say it was complete arse. My main complaint about it is that the seats in economy are so narrow in their 777s. Their seat layout is 3-4-3, compared to BA's 3-3-3, meaning that Emirates have managed to squash in a whole extra seat per row! Secondly, their flights never leave on time; they always seem to be waiting for some rich w*nker to arrive! The only praise I have with Emirates is they always allow me a great deal of excess baggage - they allowed me about 25kg for free last time!
