yeah, I think that it is supported too, whcih I read in the manual...but I don't have any service providers in the area that offer that feature

Have you talked with your lineprovider, or the company you belong to and check if they support two lines for speaking? I know there are lines that support extra lines for fax etc. but i dont know if they support talklines on your sim. IF they do, the next issue would be the phone and that is were we are at, at this point. Lets s4e what we can dig up.

yep, that is the problem, my service provider, T-Mobile (formerly Voicestream) does not support more than a single voice line...hell they don't even support fax and data lines. All T-Mobile lets you have is one voice line, that's it...the other three numbers are not supported by them. ATT doesn't support this either and Cingular does only in select markets, which I am not fortunate enough to live in

I'll look into AT&T but I seriously doubt it, since we seldom will do it on a TDMA phone. Knowing them, it's probably in the software, but policy prevents it.

line 2 should be a standard gsm feature aswell - not alot of networks support this though - some handsets are made with line 2 capability - like the T68

I agree with orangeman's post regarding Orange being unique in offering two separate voice lines. I have had this feature for about 2 years and it is really handy. I have a number for business and a separate number and answerphone for pleasure.
Unfortunately like orangeman said, the second line does not support additional features such as text messaging, so all of my messages have to be sent from my first line.
But being able to know what kind of person is calling you as soon as you see which line they are calling (regardless of whether their number is whitheld or not) is ectremely helpful - it basically means I don't shout 'yo' to clients when they decide to call me on my days off
The main advantage is that you have two separate bills and can choose two completely different tariffs. So I can choose a tariff with loads of peak time minutes to call colleagues and business contacts and then a tariff like everyday 50 that gives me 50 minutes every evening to contact friends after work - Not to mention, the tariff on the second line is heavily discounted I think by about 55% - Is that about right Orangeman?

just about right mate - line 2 is discounted by £5.00 - so the % differs depending on tariff & only orange offer this service in the UK - thats what sets them appart from other UK operators

My se friends didnt work there any more so they couldnt help.
