Its meant to be "better"!
Afterall, its a higher specced, higher priced model!
The 470mb of internal memory rocks!!
That says it all really. If you want faster downloads, a larger screen and more memory then this has it. It is more expensive so it has a higher spec.
I don't think anyones pants pocket has been torn by an S700i

WHY?? I have a W800 and W900, and to be honest they are both good, really depends what your after, if your into the 3G thing, the W900 does offer some neat functionality, and although it's certainly larger than the W800/k750 style, it's not heavy, and video and the screen really are good.
I hate using my W800 day to day for one reason, the textured matt white finish gets grubby and is almost impossible to keep clean, the gloss white on the W900 is a much better finish.
At the end of the day, they are quite different products. get one of the other, or even better, BOTH!
happy days

Well having a W800i and being able to use my mates W900i, I know that I wouldn't want to be paying too much money for an upgrade that wouldn't be worthwile.
For example, from my previous phone I upgraded to the W800i and got an MP3 player, FAR better camera, Video capture, Radio...34MB Internal and 512mb external memory. (I upgraded from V3), but if i were to upgrade to W900i i would be paying a lot for gaining fewer features. I personally would want to get a lot more from an upgrade, so I'll wait for a future model.

Clearly the w900i is a worthy upgrade from w800i. Better screen res and size, more internal memory, 3G, remote headset, firmware upgrade via wap or 3G better camera for still and video recording, full screen video playback and video conferencing... I flagged the w800i on screen size alone. Theres no way i can go from having a 240x320 screen on my s700i and then go back to using the same screen as my old k700i by "upgrading" to the w800i. The w900i is definately a great addition to the sony ericsson catalogue, and if you're trying to make the choice wheter to upgrade to w900i or w800i then the answer is quite clear...

@iwannabeaplaya (phew) Great post. I agree. GPRS just so 90's and painfully slow

We'll have to go 3G eventually if we are to keep up with the rest of the planet! I simply can't go back to the small screen. Basically, anyone who can't see the benefits of a larger screen and 3G needs their eyes testing

W900i is going down a storm. . .

i was just reading that apparently the in the w900i firmware, when you send an sms, instead of having that screen with the progress bar saying "sending message" it has an icon of a sending message at the top of the screen similar to when you send an mms on an s700i... so you can do other stuff while your message is sending. also when message sending fails, it automatically retries until the message sends (or you stop it)... which is a blessing to us s700i users who have to save the message in drafts when it fails and then go through menu after menu just to try and resend it... i think sony ericsson have hit the ball out of the park on this one...

I dont think that a person who already has a w800 should get a w900, not only for reasons said before but also because of price. With w800 u can get almost anything you īd want from a mobile and is much cheaper nowadays than a w900. However, if you are willing to pay more just to get bigger screen and 3g, get a n70. The screen will be even larger and its a smartphone!
w800 is the best u can go with a non-smartphone in terms of functionality and price. If you r willing to pay extra, get a smartphone(and n70 is even cheaper than w900!)
