"Dont contact

before visit esato.com first!"
"Got a new phone?

is it? Visit Esato.com for all the themes and assistance and just about all you will need!"
"No yet bought a

? It's alright, visit Esato.com and watch others have more fun."
Should i carry on. Why do you wanna leave, instead of leaving why not help and promote, for every phone you sell, put an esato.com sticker on the battery. Or inside the box. When you go to the cellphone store, just ask if you can leave some small itty bitty pieces of paper with Esato.com on it....
If you like the site before you will like it more now... Trust me on this one. I might be new but I am not stranger to marketing....
Esato.com, give, take share... Enjoy!

@jim
i know mate, i know.... so what do the others have that we dont, is this not the question you should be asking?
do you want to stay here at Esato.com or join the top one and float with them.
I am prepared to market esato even if it costs me money. I like this site and how it has helped me and i will be with them even if the are the 32455039480th forum on the net...
so i will make my little banners and brochures, print them send them out and do what i can to help Esato.com... Its the least i can do any maybe after being here for 4 years doing this Esato.com will be at the top with radio and tv ads going out and teams of people helping. But when this does happen. Esato.com will still be as warm as it was when i joined and moderators like masuers *spelling suck sorry* will still be here and helping me out...

@jim, if you are really bored of this site and are not prepared to try and do something about it like write your own reviews or persuade laffen to do something about this site then i think you should move to another forum. we all need to chip in as i said before and that also means less spam and more appropriate content. i do agree that we need laffen around here otherwise this site will eventually fall to bits. i dont see the harm in making masseur or any other mods an admin as they do fantastic jobs around here and they are trustworthy.

The problem is that it's centralized onto the forum, members have few possibilities to actually help, yes, by replying to questions but it needs more. Look at the review section on how poor on phone it is (why making a review section and a review forum in the first place ???), look at the themes section you can't even search by member or by name nor have a logic category.
The mobile phone comparasion list is great but it needs users comments instead of a "rate it" which I can't really see a difference as the bar is so small ... . To actually have comments of members about a phone you have to browse the forum, again, and read the 50+ pages on the general chat thread of the phone.
I won't say anything on the ringtones as it's a source of $ for Laffen and he needs it but you see the problems, it might be nothing for you as most are less than 1 year old but I do care about that.
Now I have few ideas, I developed a sort of moblog (as part of learning different thing on php), it's far from perfect but it work's allmost fully on automatic. Laffen should develop something like that, I'm sure it would help the social aspect in here. I'm ready to "offer" the script to laffen if he want's to have a look on how it works and if he consider about this idea but it needs some work. Preview
here if intersted.

Promoting esato for what ? I'm not a negative guy but it can't really see what you can add on a flyer.
Many of us has warned before and made numerous thread's about it and nothing changed, now we are all leaving because of lack of that. I was allways true to esato as it was my very first home on the internet and it helped me alot ... well it used to be.
It is not normal that regular members are leaving, it just shows a problem ...
It is normal that regular members are leaving, but check, miss uk and fatreg came back, burgaz sometimes comes online, they sometimes only leave e.g. djcreamz, but they don't want to, new baby, whatever it may be, very few members leave for good because of esato being boring/unenjoyable

I'm getting a bit fed up of this comment now that esato is not what it used to be and esato used to be like that and we had members who were like this and that and now we don't..what?...please!....The Early days were a lot different, indeed the members then were different,.why because back then

has just launched and wasn't as big as it is now..at that time we only had the t68i and later the P800..then it was a small nieche

esato communty, everyone was close and knew each other..but as with every small community be it in the real world or internet it grows."fact of life"..and as with

esato has grown aswell...why do some older members have a problem with this i don't know?..My advice to the older members is stop moaning about how bad esato is now and get on with it..for me esato is better now than when i first joined and i know it will get even better with time and

grows bigger...as with with life people will always come and go,this is just a forum...sure the older members are missed some of them were friends of mine..but simply you can't hold on to the past...we all need to move on,we should be concentrating our efforts to improve esato for the better rather than dwelling on the past.

perhaps we can learn from the past rather then jumping ahead with our eyes faced forward.
i understand jim and many others alot, i myself am an oldie. during the past years i've seen some new things on esato, some good, some not yet as they should be.
the members/topics/posts have grown alot, and thats a good thing.
but esato lacks abit of leadership and guts.
if esato wants to go forward, then do so
in the old days we had complains that even by today haven't been solved.
solve those first, then go ahead.
and do try to contact the oldie's that have left us. some of they helped alot of members, new ones and old ones.
every member here is unique, but in the end some are worth abit more then others.
i'll pm laffen with some of my personal idea's and try to talk about the stuff that is going on here from my point of vieuw. and i also hope he's reading this thread, so he can make the forum better for new and old members.

Exactly, if you don't like esato, do something about it!!!!

Whether you like to hear it or not it is the fact of the matter. If it were one or two people moaning then I would probably agree with you, but there seems to be a strong undercurrent of dissatisfaction amongst many people and especially amongst the older members. That a number of people feel the same is indicative of a trend and it would seem pefectly sensible to me for that tend to be fully examined to see what can be learned from it.

Hardly. When I joined in 2003 Esato was hardly a 'small nieche'. There were thousands of members and I am quite sure that no one knew everyone else just as no one does today. I recall enjoying Esato, in 2003, far more than I do today; I enjoyed it more than today into 2004 so size isn't necessarily anything to do with one's lack of enjoyment or engagement with Esato. Your referal to the limited number of handsets is rather ironic in my opinion considering that Esato seems to be sliding more towards a general chat forum even though we have more Sony Ericsson handsets today.

Identify the problem correctly first. Growth is not the problem, growth is welcomed. The increasingly stale and non-mobile related content and direction is the problem many older members see. Growth is actually what many of us would like to see; instead Esato appears increasingly stagnant.

Most who see the problem have 'got on with it'; they have left or are active on a very infrequent basis. Those who moan about it now are either just starting to see the problem for themselves or are attempting to make others aware of the problem so that something that can be done.

I don't think you are identifying the issue correctly. The issue isn't that people leave, that happens on most forums, rather it is what causes otherwise active and enthusiastic members to either leave or become completely disinterested in Esato. One certainly shouldn't hold onto the past, but one should learn from it.
Esato could be improved greatly if people would actually look at Esato's problems and get something one about them. How many times are suggestions made, good suggestions, that could really add functionality and give the members a better experience? We hardly ever see those suggestions being implemented. laffen may very well be busy, but we don't even receive regular feedback to let us know what he thinks of proposals and suggestions, even when we are promised feedback it doesn't always come. If I am being frank we don't actually see much of laffen at all. I'm not suggesting that he should be here every minute of every day, but popping his head around the corner on a regular basis would be nice.
@jenbones
Some have already looked to do something about it; unfortunately nothing has come from such efforts yet although not from a lack of trying.
