yes but the walkmanbranding and minor changes to interface would not have impacted se's ability to continue adding features not related to walkman branding.

The walkman phones are just a normal phone with "walkman" splashed all over them. Although I do agree there should be an option to purchase cheaper with a 64MB card and normal headset for those not needing the music player side of things.

but someone said that SE are the best build quality. for me it is samsung because my K750 is bad ... i never mentioned how walkman made it bad?

i agree that using the music phone market is a good idea but they musnt forget the millions out there using ipods that dont need walkman phones and hate the designs

18 hours. HA!

@max

i disagree. anyone that is a true music lover does not use a K750 for a dedicated music player. sorry, but thats pretty common sense to me!

is that it?! 18hrs! my Sony NW-HD5 goes for 45-50 hours! o dear

a true music lover may only be on a bus for 20 minutes a day, and thats the only time they need to listen to music! then a K750 with a 512Mb duo is more than plenty!

every company has it's ups and downs with build quality.. have you seen the latest batch of nokia 6270's? very inconsistent..

did you ever seen all the samsung e715's that had burnt out fading LCd's.

the k750/w800's have had some issues too.. from what i've seen mainly camera ribbons becoming lose and joystick issues..(firmware bugs too but that's part of life.

having said that the d600 is well built..

i'm just saying the focus on walkman branding does not take away from build quality... you make it seem like all se is doing is focusing on walkman this walkman that...and that's simply not true.

Ok heres my 2 cents worth:

I say fair play to SE for trying to get as much money from the walkman branding as they can, other companys do it, so why shouldn't SE?

and heres what i think they are doing with this new w810i, As some of you know i work for vodafone, and normally i'll get 10 or so people a day asking to see the w800i and about 2 of those 10 will say that the colours have put them off it, alot of people just don't like the orange!

So i think the w810i is SE's way of making the walkman phones appeal to a larger market?

also just cause people have ipods doesn't mean se shouldn't try to get you to dump yours for a shiny new walkman phone...

after all isn't that what competition is all about...

you buy new phones you can buy new music devices

SE sells both

I think they over-estimated the appeal of the walkman branding but I expect in the next two years phones will take over music playing from dedicated music players for a large segment of the market. Of course the dedicated ipod/multi-gig player segment will generally not move to phones for a long time yet.

The poor build quality of the K750 is only cosmetic - they squeek and rattle, but they are actually still quite tough. The squeeking etc really give the K750 an undeserved repution for shoddy build but it's only bad external casing design, in my experience anyway.

AND really vanquish, I have something like 20000 mp3's and about 500 mp4's on my pc to choose from, so what if they aren't all available all the time?

exactly i have a W900i which is great as it provides me with 10 CD's of music Mobile TV and FM radio

and i have a Sony HD5 20Gb MP3 Walkman for holidays and long journeys, in the car etc etc..

walkman phones are not here to replace, but compliment other devices...

but is the walkman branding excessive? i don't think so.. i just see a little orange W on my w900i.. and the w810 has a litle orange button on the left...

this branding isn't even close to vodaphone crap

yeah. only ipod owners think that you have to own an ipod to be a music lover. I'd buy an iriver before an ipod personally - I hate the ipod styling with a vengence.
