actually, no. as mentioned earlier in the thread the P910 uses the FAT16 file system which will only allow it to access 2GB. This is written into the white paper for the P910

Well as per call to SE 18667669374 they stated that the 910 can support a 4g card. how much memory will be used by the 910 is not yet determined but they said it will work.

hmmm... I'd place my money on the techo's that write the white paper over SE customer support any day as they regularly cannot give me a straight answer or simply answer incorrectly. Mind you their second line do usually come up with the right answers

but... I guess we'll see when someone actually has a 4gb card which hopefully won't be too long now!

yes I must admit it's an open question. NT based os's like WinXP can read up to 4GB fat 16 partitions, win9x os's can't.

I'm inclined to think that it won't support over 2GB, but that's really just a guess.

that'd be a test dummy with a lot of spare cash lying around

Anyone wanna buy RBlover69 a 4GB card to test?

don't you worry. 4gb is high on my list to get when available as I have several uses for it

I'm envious. The best I can hope for at the mo' is to score a cheap 2 gigga.

I have 2 2gb at the mo. one in my sony camera, and one in my K750 though my son is eyeing up on now that he has started converting movies for his DVD

In general, I do think solid state memory capacities are not increasing as fast as I hoped they would. Even now 4gb SD are only sparsely available and with each new format the capacities seem to start low again. I have a 1gb mini SD for my k-jam although 2gb are just starting to become available, and a 512mb transflash (micro SD) for my V3i and I haven't seen a 1gb one anywhere yet

it's a slow crawl upwards in capacities I agree. Maybe mini hard drives will invoke some competition. Hard drives (even small ones) have traditionally had much less cost per megabyte than solid state storage.

Once production techniques for micro hard drives improve, I'd say they will continue the trend. Not that we'll necessarily see many removeable hard drives in phones, but for the cheaper cost of production, we may start to see hard drives with high capacities more common inside phones.
