K600 joystick is not connected to the board. It comes away when you open the housing. It's part of the keys.

Whilst we are discussing build quality I must say I am a BIG fan of

phones having owned a T68i, T610i, P800, P900 & P910i.
But with the exception of the T610i all the others felt plastic and cheaply built.
The P800 just felt like a kids toy,
My P900 creaked as if it was about to crack after only 3 months.
The chrome on the phone bezel peeled off my P910i on the first day I got it (but having waited a long time to get it I was NOT about to send it back) the paint on the sides of the body has worn away to reveal the dark plastic moulding in less than 9 months.
Its no good Sony Ericson’s sales agents using the “Ah that’s because you’ve been using it sir” line when we complain these are expensive devices and they should be more durable.
I recently tried a friends Nokia Communicator 9300 and whilst it is way behind the P series in technology, it is streets ahead in build quality and feels good in the hand
I hope

will address this issue in the new phones it is developing especially the P990

my dad's T310 and every T610 i come across among my friends...all have perfectly working joystick.
i think its K700 and latter models which have defective joystick designs.
