one reason may be you were browsing very small size pages, and your speed would be slow, so you click on the same link again & again- resulting in higher send data.
another reason may be your data counter would be wrong. just my thoughts.

I mainly browse Voda Live! pages and google and the odd bit of wikipedia if I need help with something. I'm not sure whether Wikipedia has 'made for mobile' pages though.

mind that the counter counts also e-mails, instant messengers' traffic, so maybe he sends lots of attachments and chats too much (compared to browsing the web), in this case also sent data can be more than received.
