I thnk the name is very apt. America has a lot to do with freedom - originally it was freedom from colonial rule (The Brits).

All in all I think the towers are magnificent. Were they not designed by the british architect - Norman Foster? Or am I mistaken?

Thanks for that Leeboy. I know Norman Foster was in the running for it.

Though calling it the 'Freedom Tower' is a bit corny!

I agree!

What there should have called it is "Silverstein Towers" after Larry Silverstein.

Although i'd like to Visit this building when its ready,i think it would make me feel very uncomfortable.

Yeah, but the name I think aims to represent and mark rising above the terrible terroist events of 9/11, and so 'freedom' makes sense...

But also yes, America likes to show its independance and freedom. Even if they are really Brits but won't admit it lol.

Self inflicted, not terrorists......I think a lot of people will never see this building as the "Freedom Tower"..i certainly won't! ...thousands of innocent people have died on that spot and many more because of it..."Freedom" is the wrong name for it!
