I don't know where you live, but down here in Skåne, I couldn't lose a signal even if I tried - i've never had no signal with my k750i - i don't even know what the message it shows when you have none is. And I'm regularly in a basement (LTH).

differences bet. K800 and K750:
K750: 2Mp
K800: 3.2MP, 3G, dual cameras, QVGA

I live in Helsingborg and work at Campus Helsingborg, guess our basement is deeper than yours, eh?
To be honest it´s worst with Vodafraud, Telia seldom have trouble other than switching to Telia.DK occasionally.

If the P990 keeps being delayed, I'll seriously consider getting the K610i in 'sunset red' (SE's colour description, not mine..
) in the interim/ if it is out before the P990, then keep it as a secondary phone when the P990 eventually does become available, whenever that may be...
