no problem. i think you'll be happy.
however, i just realized that the farfield_ring.apf still doesn't make the ringtones sound exactly as they sound when they are played.
they still sound a little tinny.
i have the edited file to where they will sound exactly the same...
your ringtone will sound exactly how it's played in the media player...
it's not a HUGE difference, but it's definitely noticeable if you're picky like me.
if you want it, then i've attached it.

same thing, save it... get rid of the .mp3 extension... put it in your ifs/settings/acoustic folder.

@phantom
after the change, how loud can the ring tone go? bcoz the ring volume set at level 4-5 is almost as loud (if not louder) as the media player played at max volume.
additionally, where would you change the volume? is it still menu>>settings>>ring volume?
TIA!
btw i have r1bc fw..

ringtone can go pretty loud.
i'd say louder than the media player volume.
and you still change the volume at menu/settings/ring volume.

guys, this is becoming another FAR discussion thread instead of simply being a summary
if it continues this way I'll simply lock it so please lets keep this thread brief and to the point so that people can easily see what can be done and take the discussions to the other thread
thanks!

change operator boot screen logo -
tpapresetsystemsettingsSPLASH
SPLASH is a 176x220 gif image so replace it with your own choice of boot screen (make sure the file has no extension).
Another way to enable a silent camera:
You can delete or change the camera sounds as previously stated, but this stops the camera from having a sound when you want it to. By editing customize.xml you can make it so that the camera sounds are disabled in silent mode but work in normal mode. A phone reset is needed before this will take effect:
from custmoize.xml change "false" to "true":
Code:
<camera>
<suppress-camera-sound>true</suppress-camera-sound>
</camera>
Delete unneeded menu items:
You can use menu.ml to remove menu items that clutter your phone, for example if you don't use the simcard application kit (for operator installable menus) you can remove it so that it doesn't clutter up your "entertainment" menu's first position.
Delete this from menu.ml:
Code:
<element id="SimApplicationToolkit">
<label type="name" textid="MENU_SAT_DEFAULT_MAIN_MENU_HEADER_TXT"/>
<label type="helptext" textid="MENU_SAT_DEFAULT_MAIN_MENU_HEADER_HLP"/>
<icon pos="left" source="internal">MENU_SAT_ICN</icon>
<link type="internal"/>
</element>
Or if you are sick of My Friends cluttering up your navigation of the messages menu, then delete this:
Code:
<element id="WirelessVillage_Messaging_Menu_Id">
<label type="name" textid="WV_APPLICATION_NAME_TXT"/>
<icon pos="left" source="internal">MESSAGING_MENU_WV_ICN</icon>
<link type="internal"/>
</element>
<element id="Messages_OperatorLink1_Hook_Id">
<link type="internal"/>
</element>
Note, you can delete whole menu's, for example I deleted "contacts" and made it a sub-menu of Messages - just as a test mind you
