Well fark me...

Today I decided to flash my K750 to W800.
Guess what happened? Yup.. seems like I killed my phone.

I followed the instructions as mentioned here:
Free K750/W800 CID36 Flashing Using DCU-60 Cable

TopSony.com was really fast to respond, I got myself some
MAIN and FS files and off we go. Well... rather "down we go".

I tried to flash the debranded K750 (Red version, formerly Eplus
from Germany, now only EU2) - to no avail.
He accepted the standard usb-connector cable and everything
seemed fine until Davinci 13.7 reached around 32%. Then I got
Error 0x005556 - *grmph*

Tried several times over to sucessfully flash it, but nope,
wouldn't work.

Now XP won't recognize the cable/phone anymore, there's a small
icon in the taskbar which is kind enough to tell me that
"one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned
and Windows does not recognize it: Unknown Device"... great.

Restarted the PC, reinstalled the drivers, even got the PL-2303
chip drivers from some Tawainese website. Uninstalling the USB-Hub
results in nothing new. Switching off power entirely does nothing
for me, too.


Soooo... right now I'm lost and have no idea what to try next.
Is this really the end? Do I have to walk down to the next
EPlus store tomorrow and try to talk the people there (even
though my warranty is gone due to death-flashing) into giving
me a new mobilephone?


Any ideas left?

Damn, thats gotta suck. I'd hate for that to happen to my phone. I don't think they'd give you a new phone either as you've tried to tamper with the software, so it isn't particularly anyones fault but yours. (sorry to say). It does also say to use FAR at your own risk. But anyways.. so the phone doesn't turn on now?

The only mod i've made to mine is deleting the camera sounds and changing the menu icons.

For a long time i had my K750i flashed with W800i software because i wanted the walkman player for better music quality. I recently decided to go back to the K750i software and i have not noticed any decrease in music quality. When i first used the K750i software the sound quality was not that great but it seems that by me flashing to a W800i and then back again has changed the media player for the better. Any one know why? I thought that when you flash it, it gets rid of everything to do with the software version installed?

Fark...

First, you should do gdfs backups with FAR manager. (links at se-nse) Anyway, you should try some different firmware, perhaps the one you are trying is corrupt.

It's happened to me too, I tried another version and it worked fine. It may not be the version you need, but atleast you will have a working phone untill you find the non-corupt version that you want.

If it's not that, then the phone may need recovery with service cable...
