Hi! I am a new Symbian phone user, so I am bit lost. How to do master reset? And do I need to install all new firmware or could I just install the latest?

master reset is found in the menus

click tools -> control panel -> other -> master reset

thanks for the advice. still could not get the phone to turn on. brought it back to SE Singapore and they replace the set. it really died completely during the update, hope no one is as unfortunate as me.

Bug: SMS/MMS/EMAIL Receive failure
Problem: When clicking on the SMS/MMS/EMAIL Icon in the top Statusbar, screen freezes and is unable to show message
Repeatable bug: No. Happens every other time
Solution: Hard reset
Seriousness: High
Notes: When this first happend, I got EMAIL. Email settings are POP3, get only headlines, receive with internet settings (Vodafone GPRS), Use SMTP-authentication.

As I said... hope SE is reading this. My phone is so buggy I think I will use it as a kebab on this weekends barbeque.

I am still on the previous firmware version and have not upgraded to this latest one because after reviewing comments from this forum, as well as others, I do not see any significant improvement.

I have 2 comments/questions:

1. When I did my last firmware upgrade using SEUS, I also did it twice, deleting the initial SEUS and reinstalling it, as adhussain did. Curious if anyone else has tried this?

2. I find myself going to the "Open" tab under TasK Manager fairly often and closing applications that are running in the background but I'm not using. I'm not sure if those applications running in the background contribute to the need for a hard reset or the phone automatically shutting down to "improve performance", but I have not had to do either for quite some time.

Finally, a bit off topic but I want to thank Lucas for the themes he created and more importantly, for inspiring me to try and create some of my own (when I get some time).

I am currently installing the new firmware, been at it for 30 min. How long does it take to finish the update?

And what does 'flash'ing the phone means? I saw alot of posting mentioning it but I am clueless as to what it means.

Masseur's the real deal here but you're most welcome. It took approx 75 minutes to download the firmware (slow internet connection), and around 30 -40 minutes to install (flash) the firmware into the device. Flashing the phone refers to the updating of the device's firmware.
