Hi guys a few questions for any K800i owners out there.
Yesterday I swapped my w800i for a w810i and regretting it already. So I'm thinking about going for k800i instead but need to know a few things:
1) Is there a stand by clock? i.e. when the phone is sleeping a clock will appear on the screen going up and down, and also show an envelope for texts, etc. This was on the w800 but removed on the w810i.
2) I do use the mp3 function a lot. Does the k800i have an MP3 play button anywhere on it? Does it have the same MP3 player software as the w800i?
3) Has anyone upgraded from w800i to k800i? are there any other major things missing which you have found? is the k800i upgrade worth it?
I got rid of the w800i as I needed a more professional looking phone. I guess if the k800i doesn't meet the above I guess I'll go back to the k750.
Cheers for any help

Yes there is a standby clock which shows missed call icon and sms text icon but the backlight goes off pretty quickly and you cant specify how long you want the back light on for.
Yes the k800i has a mp3 play button, same place as the w810i and works well. It wont and does not have the same mp3 software as the w810i or w800i...those are walkman phones...this is a cybershot phone which means the camera is the main selling point. But the mp3 player works really good and you can still manually set the eq to how you want it.
Your 3rd question i cant answer as i dont or never have owned a w800 but i do have a w810i...which is now used by my mum and i have a k800i and i think its well worth it. I didnt upgrade but bought the k800i sim free for a bloody good price on ebay...brand new and sim free for less than £200.

Thanks for the quick reply spawn!
Well it sounds like its worth a try. I'm about to get a T-Mobile contract so I'll go with the k800i instead of waiting for the w850.
I'm just a bit confused about what you said regarding the clock... basically I leave my phone in my room and when I come back I just like to see the phone to see if I have any texts or missed calls without pressing a button (which I have to do with the w810). Would I still have to do this with the k800i? Or does a text icon stay on like the w800/k750?

No as far as i can see on the k800i, you would still have to press the button to see if you have any missed calls/sms texts. As i said the light doesnt stay on, goes off after 5 secs max. Once you press a button then the backlight comes on and you can see the missed call/sms text icon. But as i said it doesnt stay on for long.

Hi peeps, am new to this forum!
I've just got a shniy new K800i, but am puzzled by a couple of things...
1. Can you turn up the volume for the message alert? I like my 'Ding-Dong' to wake the whole building?
2. There's an intermittant icon in the top left, next to the signal strength. it's kind of white, with a blue eclipsed circle thing on it. Any idea what it is and how to turn it off?
Cheers

That icon is to show that you have a 3G signal. You can turn it off by going into Settings, Connectivity, Mobile Networks, GSM/3G networks, and selecting GSM Only. This apparently prolongs the life of the battery a bit, but then defeats the whole point of having a 3G phone innit. As for turning up the volume for the message alert... I think the volume of the alert is linked to the volume of the ringtone. Have a high ringtone volume, set it to ascending (so that when someone does calls you, it builds up rather than scares the shit out of you), and hopefully the message alert will go off at the volume of the ringtone. Make sense? Alternatively, I don't know whether this is true or not, if you leave the volume in the MP3 player at maximum when you've finished listening to music, the message alert should go off at that volume. Try both. I'm not hundred percent sure, as I use the "click", as even with my ringtone volume setting at 3, anything else was too loud!

For volume use the side buttons and press it till all the little green circles are full up.
That icon is the 3g icon, it will come on if your in a 3g area and are connected to it.

Thanks again spawn. I think I'll just buy the K800i and sell it and get the K750i instead.
