Hi ofiaich,

Does the 802SE firmware have different/extra features to a V/Z800(the hardware is the same) for example? And how is the phone 'limited'??
I'm glad you posted, a perfect example of a world capable handset(dependant on firmware, of course)!

Hi Aware,

my 802se was a V800 re-flashed by GBrook3 here and at SEN-SE .

It has 4 languages, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese.

Applications included are World Clock and Convertor.

Messaging is by MMS and SMS but I cannot send using MMS and my friends in Japan cannot receive my SMS's in Japanese. Japanese email setup is different on their handsets. No POP/IMAP capability.

But I know Docomo are releasing thir version of the TyTn soon!

I can use Java applets and Vodafone Live for email but this is really a pain to do, so better for me to use the 802se , as a modem, with my Tunsten T3 PDA or my VAIO.

Interesting chap, thanks!
Sympathy about the messaging services; while I'd expect mms not to work, I'm surprised about text messages(although I wouldn't expect a message centre to translate languages at the current time).....
....but the point of being able to use a japanese handset in the UK is possible, you could convert an 802se to V/Z800 spec, or a Sharp SX833 to 903/SH for UK use......
.....either way, I'd love a 904SH, would happily use an unlocked generic one, even though half the features on it are not supported outside Voda kk network.....
