Wow, this discussion has really taken off.
Just wanted to say that I got my MMC-60 cable last night and am pretty pleased with it. The Stereo I use is an oldish Pioneer midi-system with a recently defunct CD player. I've been diappointed with the Bass response from the Pioneer amp but not since I connected my V630i via the

cable. Bass is AWESOME! Sound quality is very good but I'm no audiophile and all my music is encoded in MP3 at 80bps ever since I had the K700i with only 41MB to play with.
I'll take the advice mentioned earlier and convert the tracks to WAV when I get the opportunity.
Off topic, but I just can't get enough of 'you know my name' Bond theme by Chris Cornell ATM...

yes, he is (btw -since you ask,...) and he probably knows it but doesn't care - we only care when it's pointed out to us...

mp3s are good, so why would you want to convert to WAV? WAV files take a lot more space, and if you're not converting from a direct source (i.e. CD), then it's a complete waste of time and space. personally, i would recommend mp3s encoded in VBR and joint stereo using LAME 3.9. best compromise between file size and quality i think. but that's just me.
anyways i do think that the quality of sound here is a matter of preference. eldar from M-R might have certain preferences, and us others. to each his own i guess. but if you're really concerned about sound quality, get an ipod nano and stick it to the back of your handset

Going from my K750 to my K800 I was disappointed with the K800 sound, but now I have a Nokia N73 and it has even worse sound. You can hear more detail in the K800 music.
I bought the Nokia Music Headset and the bundled headphones were useless! They're worse than the headphones I got complimentary on a train... So I plugged in my Sony Ericsson earbuds into the 3.5mm jack

that ugly brick? good looks are always worth more than a marginal increase in sound quality. but then, that's just me.

I own one, and though I mostly use my e61 (which is pretty good for music - Dogmann said a bit about it), I love n91 to really blast my head through when I feel like... I've owned revox reference amps and then some in my life...the n91 is quite something!!! (yes, I know all its flaws too... But btw - dropped it twice: the hd CAN take it!!!)... Now I haven't tried w950, but I can say my wife's w810 is not even on the same planet!
Anything else?

mp3s are good enough if you listen to them with an average set of headphones, but if you get better HF you will hear the differences between the WAV and MP3 files and believe me,they are obvious and you will be very disappointed from the mp3s.Well,WAV files certainly take a lot more space, but in your view - in my view just the mp3s take a lot less space,it is just me.BTW,you are right its completely useless to convert mp3 to WAV,ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS.So,back to the topic about WAV in general. If I have the W950i or the Nokia N91,or even the 8GB version,I do have enough space, don't I?Well,it depends on people what to choose but if you have good noise canceling or isolating IEM like some highend Ultimate Ears or Shure or Westone or etc. its pointless to use them with mp3.At home I personally listen to DVD-Audio and SACD discs, even the WAV is not up to quality, but again, its just me.Many people know that mp3 cuts some of the bass and much of the high frequencies and you couldn't have heard a proper bass response from mp3,and its not about headphones here. And about the Ipods, they are really shitty soundwise, their focus is on quantity, not quality. If you want quality, get an Archos.
Sorry if my post sounds more or less offensive, thats not the point, its just to correct some mistakes.

Great music device,it was a birthday present for me

.Very loud, though not that clear at max,but I enjoyed it at medium or even a little bit lower than that.Perfect match for my Sennheisers PX100,as crystal clear sound as it could be from a phone and "light" category headphones.Don't forget,it has a DSP.And I have dropped it too - it survived after all

As you pointed out,it has considerable flaws, and was quite an uninteresting device except its sound reproduction - quite a brick and quite a bad battery life, bad display, slow HD,etc.I can't forget the "frying" HD

- the phone used to get warm. These things made me buy W950i - and I'm satisfied with it for now - fast flash memory, large touch screen(not a plus for everybody though),lighter, smaller, better bat life. Not so mind blasting, not so crystal clear, but everything else is in its place.Maybe only the keypad could be made more user-friendly and the jog-dial,but I don't find them that bad.
About the W810 - it really sucks,a friend of mine has it,REALLY BAD,as well as the W850

.I want to say some good words about the W900i - as somebody pointed out, very good music reproduction,on par with the W950i.
