i did. but the last thing i wanted to do to a 900$ device was to press its screen. i am not saying i dont believe you, i am just saying i didnt read anywhere N95 doesnt have a normal TFT screen.
you on the other hand can be nice, i know its hard for someone like you, but please do try it.

262K is sufficient on phones for now, until we get some batteries which are capable with high colour screens. Until then, I'd rather the extra hours of talktime! The 6131, N95, 6300 (just to name a few), all have disappointing battery life because the screens aren't matched to a high capacity battery.

And here's what TFT/LCD etc. means.

LCD is a display type achieved with liquid crystals, hence the name Liquid Crystal Display.

Then there are different types of LCD displays, like there are different types of fruits.

TFT is the most popular because it is bright, has a fast refresh rate, and good colour and contrast.

There are other types of display like TFD, UBC, CSTN, STN, and OLED.

The reason why you can 'squash' the screen of the N95 is because it doesn't have a glass cover in front of it. The K800 has glass in front of the screen so you can directly touch the screen or damage it.

That's a simple intro into LCDs!

a TFT screen is a type of LCD. the reason you can't press on it is because there is a glass protective layer as mentioned, cos' LCD screens tends to be suspectible to shock.

no denying that 16M displays looks better both on paper and in real life, i.e. Nokia 6300. the ability to display more colors translate to a better and more accurate reproduction of images (hue, saturation, ect.).

Its new coz it will scratch easier and leak quicker and is not as clear as other "LCD" screens!!
Do you have a LCD TV at home? I have a 32" screen at home and the normal broadcast (we dont have HD in SA atm) is the same as the N95.

good point there. I think that's all that needs to be said really. SE hasn't come up with a platform to support 16M colors in fact, I think, and there's no point as yet as shaliron mentioned in terms of practicality. better than using a 16M display just for the sake of it even when the platform doesn't support it.

they're all lcd screen...

the differenence is nokia isn't using a hard screen protector.....

if you took the housing off of any phone.. and turned it on and stuck your finger on the screen they would all discolor like that
