Somebody told me something about changing the CDA and then the phone
would update with different firmware (or something). Is that a possibility?

Are you retoring a backup after reflashing? I only ask as this has been known to cause old problems to recurr. I now make a point of simply re syncing the phone to my pc, and then manualy reinstalling my apps etc. I fact I've done it so often now that it's getting rather routine!

No I've never restored any backups, I always reinstalled
everything from scratch, and lately I even installed everything
on the flash card instead of the internal memory thinking that
it might free up some space, but it didn't make any difference.

Ok, I'm Polish so I also posted about this problem on a Polish forum, and one
dude there told me that maybe the problem with my phone is that it has a
damaged "Koncowka Mocy" (I'm not sure what the part is called in English).

It looks like in the attached picture, and I've seen phones for sale with this
part damaged and they have similar symptomes as mine as far as the problems
with GSM network traffic are concerned.

the best translation I can find online for that term is:

"power output unit"

any electronics engineers out there?

we have the same problem gabriel.. I can say that wheneven I leave the phone alone and not touch it it hangs... when I say hang I mean like I cant sms, call, receive sms, receive call, but I can open some apps but not those directly related to the sim card. I though that this was a sim card problem but when I tried 2 other sims --- same problem. also when I go to sleep and wake, when I check the phone it looks ok but when I call it hangs, when I sms is keeps saying sending... but in reality it has hanged up. I also experienced a hanged UI where you think everything is ok (on flip closed) full battery, full signal but you wont get any sms, or calls, when you restart you are shocked to see that the signal is low and the battery is low also. which tells me that what I saw before restart was a hang.

yeah typical.

I just sent my phone to them yesterday. I am glad it has warranty. first they formated it then master reset then reflashed firmware. in my mind I was laughing. cause those were the things I did before and it didn't fix it. I called up later to know the status of the phone and they said they need to send it to their head office for customization (maybe cda change - i've done that 4 times already) which would take 3-4weeks. hehehe. If the problem still persist then they will do hardware investigation which would take longer. if it still wont fix it then they would replace my phone. heheheh.

The problem is when ever I leave the phone alone and not play with it, it hangs.

I'm new to smartphones and I just got my P990 a couple of days ago. Which one should I look at when I want to know the firmware? Phone, organizer or CDA? I'm confused.

Thanks.
