Personally, I think that SE cameras are better than Nokia cameras, and you always complain about how SEs don't have HSDPA etc. but I think mobile internet is frivolous! True, Nokias do have much better displays.

The Cybershot series ONLY had the Xenon flash thing going on for them, who's going to buy the K850 when this puppy with S60 + WiFi + GPS + XENON FLASH comes out?! SE might be trouble and Nokia shares might reach 40% ain't it right Mr. plankgatan?!

All companies have brought something good to the table otherwise they wouldn't be successful. People love Samsungs cool no-nonsense designs. Nokia incorporates great technology. SE has reknowed for mobile music and imaging. HTC etc. Its all good.

This really is one of the most absurd threads ever, just how many mono block or candy bar designs do you think are possible. If a phone has a camera where are the going to put it on the back obviously and of course they will put the camera key in the most accessible and easiest place for the user to get to anything else would just be stupid.
If you want to claim anyone is copying anyone else you need two devices that are virtually identical being similiar really doesn't cut it. Or you might as well say all car manufacturers copy each other as most have four wheels in the same place and the lights also.
Besides who cares about any of this is all i care about is getting a device that fulfills my needs at a price i can accept from any manufacturer that produces it.
Oh yes and one last thing if you really think that Nokia with it's huge R&D resources really needs to copy SE who have under 25% of the market share they have you really are not living on this planet get real.

All companies are pioneers in the own right. Ericsson made huge advances with the T68. The T610 was the first successful dual-front design cameraphone. Its nothing to be ashamed of.

Patent infringement is one thing but recognising a trend and acting on it is whats going on here. There is nothing wrong with that.
I can't believe it chokes you to admit that the N82 is a dual-front design. Its OK you know? No-one will get killed if you admit it. Its a great looking phone.

Dual front design was pioneered by Sony Ericsson with the T610 and T630. This progressed to the company's other camera phones the K700 and the S700. The S700 was also the first mobile phone with an active lens cover to protect the camera lens when not in use; when opened, it activates the camera. This made the use of cameras in easier due to the horizontal orientation of the phone which offered more stability and ease of use.
Eventually the market caught on and Sharp began producing clamshell phones with dual front designs (Sharp 902). This had not been done before on clamshell phones as it is difficult to find a convenient location to put the camera due to the physical limitations. Nokia, after observing the warming towards mobile phones with dual front designs announced the 6111, 6270, and 6280, all of which had a dual front element to them. They had also previously created a new design which involved the twisting of the top flip in order to create a camcorder like display (6260). Whilst not strictly dual front, it was later elaborated more to form the N90, N92 and N93.
Now dual front phones are common to most Sony Ericsson and Nokia phones with cameras.
Samsung's new UpStage features a new form of dual front design, where one side is the phone side and the other side resembles an MP3 player.
