Everyone can speculate as much as they want about the camera portion, but until the phones are in the store, many things can change, firmware being the least. If you think that SE won't change the lens if there is an outcry - think again! Companies have changed entire cases due to negative feedback, might not happen with the 1st wave, but it will if the fringing is not controlled.
Good points but we're comparing cameras ATM. I honestly hope SE fixes their flagship phone or the 'Cybershot' brand will just look gimmicky. And with new Nokia devices looming over the horizon with 5MP,wifi, gps and flash, the K850 might have a tough time. Anyhow, we'll see the outcome when it is officially released. Until then, it's all speculation.

I have to agree. The k850i seems to be a mass-market phone that appeals through numbers and not sheer performance. It feels like SE is going in a direction that is betraying customers who look for top of the line performance. I used to be a huge SE fan, but I'm simply am not enamored by their products. To be beat by an n95 which was launched months upon months ago (ages in this type of technology life time), which is not a dedicated camera phone but a king convergence device, is not a good sign for any serious buyer.
Now if the phone is in the 300 dollar range, then it can be a nice pickup, but this is not top of the line performance and should not command that type of price point simply due to marketing...

, it's always best to be totally dispassionate about ones chosen brand, or your liable to be left with a Lemon!! (every manufacturer puts one out every so often).
TBH the K850i majors on it's photographic prowess, if it lacks that, then it's a hollow concept.
A wise sentiment, indeed. The second one buys from loyalty is the second one is fleeced. I am only loyal to my dollars and they tell me to make the informed decision.

No wonder Miles Flint has bailed now while the going was still good obviously he is much more aware of what's going on @SE then the rest of you. Personally i think UIQ3 and SE's customer support and attitude was enough to help him reach his decision.
What i do find really funny is if this review said the K850 was best it would of been the best and most accurate review ever, yet because it doesn't and seems to agree with a few other reviews it's just a rubbish review isn't it.

While I agree with you that Miles Flint knew exactly what he's doing, I would have to say that no one here actually said it's a bad or inaccurate review, so please stop overreacting before you send this thread straight to hell yet again

looks like camera quality is a bit better on the n95 side, but looking at the n95's "low battery time" problem (some users say that the n95 draws a whole lotta power) we'll have to wait till the final version of the k850 gets to the street to give a fair judgement between those two models...
but in my opinion, SE still rocks, even competing against an all in one device...

By the time the K850 is out , the newer N95 8GB won't be to far away. One of the improvements is a better battery. The big thing it's still lacking for me is a Xenon flash, but as they're correcting the other problems with the original one it's got a lot going for it and I'm begining to feel tempted. Shame, as I'd much prefer an all in one SE than Nokia (or other make) but most of all I don't want 2nd best.

N95 8Gb is said to be in market in Oct. So these 2 phones will be out at about same time. IF K850 price is close to N95 8Gb price, then I would think it is a stupid decision (from any neutral standpoint) to even consider the K850.

As for price, they might start off at asimilar price, but we all know the k850 will drop dramatically in a couple weeks after its release.

FYI, Mr Flint hasn't 'bailed now' at all. He's staying on for 3 months while the transition takes place. There is no evidence of him being forcibly removed or any discontent on his part, which must have bothered you for you to come up with:
